«عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ عَنْهُمْ» قُلْتُ فَإِنَّهُ أَعْطَاهُمْ دَرَاهِمَ فَبَعْضُهُمْ ضَحَّى وَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَمْسَكَ اَلدَّرَاهِمَ وَ صَامَ قَالَ «قَدْ أَجْزَأَ عَنْهُمْ وَ هُوَ بِالْخِيَارِ إِنْ شَاءَ تَرَكَهَا » قَالَ قَالَ «وَ لَوْ أَنَّهُ أَمَرَهُمْ فَصَامُوا كَانَ قَدْ أَجْزَأَ عَنْهُمْ ».

سماعة نے ان سے ایک شخص کے بارے میں پوچھا جس نے اپنے غلاموں کو تمتع کرنے کا حکم دیا تھا۔ انہوں نے کہا: ’’اس پر لازم ہے کہ وہ ان کی طرف سے قربانی کرے۔‘‘ میں نے کہا: ’’اگر اس نے انہیں درہم دیے، اور کچھ نے قربانی کی جبکہ کچھ نے درہم رکھے اور روزہ رکھا؟‘‘ انہوں نے کہا: ’’یہ ان کے لیے کافی ہے، اور اس کے پاس اختیار ہے؛ اگر چاہے تو اسے چھوڑ سکتا ہے۔‘‘ انہوں نے کہا: ’’اور اگر اس نے انہیں حکم دیا اور وہ روزہ رکھتے تو یہ ان کے لیے کافی ہوتا۔‘‘
Translation
Hadith.2897 - It was narrated that Sama'ah asked Imam (as) about a man who instructed his servants to perform Tamattu‘ (Umrah and Hajj combined). Imam (as) said: "It is incumbent upon him to offer the sacrifice on their behalf." I said: "What if he gave them dirhams, and some of them offered the sacrifice while others kept the dirhams and chose to fast?" Imam (as) said: "It is sufficient for them, and he has the choice to leave it as is if he wishes." Imam (as) further said: "If he had commanded them to fast instead, it would have sufficed for them."
