: «خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ إِلَى اَلصَّلاَةِ وَ قَدْ كَانَ اَلْحُسَيْنُ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ أَبْطَأَ عَنِ اَلْكَلاَمِ حَتَّى تَخَوَّفُوا أَنَّهُ لاَ يَتَكَلَّمُ وَ أَنْ يَكُونَ بِهِ خَرَسٌ فَخَرَجَ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ بِهِ حَامِلاً عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ وَ صَفَّ اَلنَّاسُ خَلْفَهُ فَأَقَامَهُ عَلَى يَمِينِهِ فَافْتَتَحَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ اَلصَّلاَةَ فَكَبَّرَ اَلْحُسَيْنُ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ فَلَمَّا سَمِعَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ تَكْبِيرَهُ عَادَ فَكَبَّرَ وَ كَبَّرَ اَلْحُسَيْنُ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ حَتَّى كَبَّرَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ سَبْعَ تَكْبِيرَاتٍ وَ كَبَّرَ اَلْحُسَيْنُ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ فَجَرَتِ اَلسُّنَّةُ بِذَلِكَ.

ابو جعفر علیہ السلام سے روایت ہے کہ انہوں نے فرمایا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نماز کے لیے نکلے جبکہ الحسین علیہ السلام بولنے میں تاخیر کر رہے تھے، یہاں تک کہ انہیں خوف ہوا کہ شاید وہ بول نہ سکیں اور ان میں گونگ پن ہو۔ چنانچہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم انہیں کندھے پر اٹھا کر لے گئے، اور لوگ آپ کے پیچھے صفیں بنائے۔ آپ نے انہیں اپنی دائیں طرف بٹھایا۔ پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے نماز شروع کی، اور الحسین علیہ السلام نے تکبیر کہی۔ جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ان کی تکبیر سنی تو آپ نے اسے دہرایا اور الحسین علیہ السلام نے تکبیر کہی، یہاں تک کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے سات تکبیریں کہیں اور الحسین علیہ السلام نے بھی تکبیر کہی۔ یوں سنت اسی طرح جاری رہی۔
Translation
Hadith.917 - Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir (as) narrated that He said: "The Messenger of Allah (sw) went out for prayer while carrying Imam al-Husayn (as) on his shoulder, as al-Husayn (as) had delayed in speaking, and there was concern that he might have a speech impediment or be unable to speak. The Prophet (sw) carried him out, and the people lined up behind him (for prayer). He placed al-Husayn (as) on his right side. The Prophet (sw) began the prayer, and when He said the takbir (saying 'Allahu Akbar'), Imam al-Husayn (as) repeated the takbir after him. When the Prophet heard al-Hussayn’s takbir, he repeated it, and so did al-Husayn. This continued until the Prophet (sw) had said seven takbirs, with al-Husayn repeating them. Thus, the tradition (of seven takbirs at the beginning of the prayer) was established."
