وَٱلۡفَجۡرِ ﴿١﴾

قسم ہے فجر کی

وَلَيَالٍ عَشۡرࣲ‏ ﴿٢﴾

اور دس راتوں کی

and the ten nights

وَٱلشَّفۡعِ وَٱلۡوَتۡرِ ﴿٣﴾

اور جفت اور طاق کی

and the even and the odd

Uthmani — Hafs

وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا يَسۡرِ ﴿٤﴾

اور رات کی جبکہ وہ رخصت ہو رہی ہو

and the night when it passes

Uthmani — Hafs

هَلۡ فِي ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمࣱ لِّذِي حِجۡرٍ ﴿٥﴾

کیا اِس میں کسی صاحب عقل کے لیے کوئی قسم ہے؟

Is all this ˹not˺ a sufficient oath for those who have sense

أَلَمۡ تَرَ كَيۡفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ ﴿٦﴾

تم نے دیکھا نہیں کہ تمہارے رب نے کیا برتاؤ کیا

Did you not see how your Lord dealt with ’Ȃd—

إِرَمَ ذَاتِ ٱلۡعِمَادِ ﴿٧﴾

اونچے ستونوں والے عاد ارم کے ساتھ

˹the people˺ of Iram—with ˹their˺ great stature

ٱلَّتِي لَمۡ يُخۡلَقۡ مِثۡلُهَا فِي ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ ﴿٨﴾

جن کے مانند کوئی قوم دنیا کے ملکوں میں پیدا نہیں کی گئی تھی؟

unmatched in any other land

Uthmani — Hafs

وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُواْ ٱلصَّخۡرَ بِٱلۡوَادِ ﴿٩﴾

اور ثمود کے ساتھ جنہوں نے وادی میں چٹانیں تراشی تھیں؟

and Thamûd who carved ˹their homes into˺ the rocks in the ˹Stone˺ Valley

وَفِرۡعَوۡنَ ذِي ٱلۡأَوۡتَادِ ﴿١٠﴾

اور میخوں والے فرعون کے ساتھ؟

and the Pharaoh of mighty structures

ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ ﴿١١﴾

یہ وہ لوگ تھے جنہوں نے دنیا کے ملکوں میں بڑی سرکشی کی تھی

They all transgressed throughout the land

فَأَكۡثَرُواْ فِيهَا ٱلۡفَسَادَ ﴿١٢﴾

اور ان میں بہت فساد پھیلایا تھا

spreading much corruption there

Uthmani — Hafs

فَصَبَّ عَلَيۡهِمۡ رَبُّكَ سَوۡطَ عَذَابٍ ﴿١٣﴾

آخرکار تمہارے رب نے ان پر عذاب کا کوڑا برسا دیا

So your Lord unleashed on them a scourge of punishment

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلۡمِرۡصَادِ ﴿١٤﴾

حقیقت یہ ہے کہ تمہارا رب گھات لگائے ہوئے ہے

˹For˺ your Lord is truly vigilant

Uthmani — Hafs

فَأَمَّا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكۡرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّيٓ أَكۡرَمَنِ ﴿١٥﴾

مگر انسان کا حال یہ ہے کہ اس کا رب جب اُس کو آزمائش میں ڈالتا ہے اور اُسے عزت اور نعمت دیتا ہے تو وہ کہتا ہے کہ میرے رب نے مجھے عزت دار بنا دیا

Now, whenever a human being is tested by their Lord through ˹His˺ generosity and blessings, they boast, “My Lord has ˹deservedly˺ honoured me!”

وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيۡهِ رِزۡقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّيٓ أَهَٰنَنِ ﴿١٦﴾

اور جب وہ اُس کو آزمائش میں ڈالتا ہے اور اُس کا رزق اُس پر تنگ کر دیتا ہے تو وہ کہتا ہے کہ میرے رب نے مجھے ذلیل کر دیا

But when He tests them by limiting their provision, they protest, “My Lord has ˹undeservedly˺ humiliated me!”

كَلَّاۖ بَل لَّا تُكۡرِمُونَ ٱلۡيَتِيمَ ﴿١٧﴾

Tafhim al-Quran — Maududi

ہرگز نہیں، بلکہ تم یتیم سے عزت کا سلوک نہیں کرتے

Absolutely not! In fact, you are not ˹even˺ gracious to the orphan

وَلَا تَحَٰٓضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ ﴿١٨﴾

اور مسکین کو کھانا کھلانے پر ایک دوسرے کو نہیں اکساتے

nor do you urge one another to feed the poor

وَتَأۡكُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَكۡلࣰ ا لَّمࣰّ ا ﴿١٩﴾

اور میراث کا سارا مال سمیٹ کر کھا جاتے ہو

And you devour ˹others’˺ inheritance greedily

وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡمَالَ حُبࣰّ ا جَمࣰّ ا ﴿٢٠﴾

اور مال کی محبت میں بری طرح گرفتار ہو

and love wealth fervently

كَلَّآۖ إِذَا دُكَّتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ دَكࣰّ ا دَكࣰّ ا ﴿٢١﴾

Tafhim al-Quran — Maududi

ہرگز نہیں، جب زمین پے در پے کوٹ کوٹ کر ریگ زار بنا دی جائے گی

Enough! When the earth is entirely crushed over and over

Uthmani — Hafs

وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلۡمَلَكُ صَفࣰّ ا صَفࣰّ ا ﴿٢٢﴾

اور تمہارا رب جلوہ فرما ہوگا اِس حال میں کہ فرشتے صف در صف کھڑے ہوں گے

and your Lord comes ˹to judge˺ with angels, rank upon rank

وَجِاْيٓءَ يَوۡمَئِذِۭ بِجَهَنَّمَۚ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ ﴿٢٣﴾

اور جہنم اُس روز سامنے لے آئی جائے گی، اُس دن انسان کو سمجھ آئے گی اور اس وقت اُس کے سمجھنے کا کیا حاصل؟

The Clear Quran — Mustafa Khattab

and Hell is brought forth on that Day—this is when every ˹disbelieving˺ person will remember ˹their own sins˺. But what is the use of remembering then

يَقُولُ يَٰلَيۡتَنِي قَدَّمۡتُ لِحَيَاتِي ﴿٢٤﴾

وہ کہے گا کہ کاش میں نے اپنی اِس زندگی کے لیے کچھ پیشگی سامان کیا ہوتا

They will cry, “I wish I had sent forth ˹something good˺ for my ˹true˺ life.”

فَيَوۡمَئِذࣲ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُۥٓ أَحَدࣱ‏ ﴿٢٥﴾

Tafhim al-Quran — Maududi

پھر اُس دن اللہ جو عذاب دے گا ویسا عذاب دینے والا کوئی نہیں

On that Day He will punish ˹them˺ severely, like no other

Uthmani — Hafs

وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُۥٓ أَحَدࣱ‏ ﴿٢٦﴾

اور اللہ جیسا باندھے گا ویسا باندھنے والا کوئی نہیں

and bind ˹them˺ tightly, like no other

Uthmani — Hafs

يَٰٓأَيَّتُهَا ٱلنَّفۡسُ ٱلۡمُطۡمَئِنَّةُ ﴿٢٧﴾

Tafhim al-Quran — Maududi

(دوسری طرف ارشاد ہوگا) اے نفس مطمئن

The Clear Quran — Mustafa Khattab

˹Allah will say to the righteous,˺ “O tranquil soul

Uthmani — Hafs

ٱرۡجِعِيٓ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةࣰ مَّرۡضِيَّةࣰ‏ ﴿٢٨﴾

Tafhim al-Quran — Maududi

چل اپنے رب کی طرف، اِس حال میں کہ تو (اپنے انجام نیک سے) خوش (اور اپنے رب کے نزدیک) پسندیدہ ہے

Return to your Lord, well pleased ˹with Him˺ and well pleasing ˹to Him˺

Uthmani — Hafs

فَٱدۡخُلِي فِي عِبَٰدِي ﴿٢٩﴾

Tafhim al-Quran — Maududi

شامل ہو جا میرے (نیک) بندوں میں

The Clear Quran — Mustafa Khattab

So join My servants

Uthmani — Hafs

وَٱدۡخُلِي جَنَّتِي ﴿٣٠﴾

Tafhim al-Quran — Maududi

اور داخل ہو جا میری جنت میں

The Clear Quran — Mustafa Khattab

and enter My Paradise.”
