BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha is a living tradition within Swaminarayan Sampradaya. Also written Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha, BAPS.
Origin
Founder named in the sources: Śāstrī Yagnapuruṣdās (Shastriji Maharaj), 1865–1951. Founding date given as 1907. WRSP (entry by Angela Burt, published 30 September 2024): BAPS 'was established in 1907 by Shastri Yagnapurushdas (1865-1951), who separated from the existing Swaminarayan movement'. Leadership passes through a guru succession traced from Guṇātītānand Swāmī; Mahant Swami (Swami Keshavjivandas) assumed leadership in 2016 after the death of Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
