Beizong (Northern Lineage of internal alchemy) is a living tradition within Quanzhen dao (Complete Perfection). Also written 北宗, Northern Lineage of neidan.
Origin
Founder named in the sources: Wang Zhe (Wang Chongyang) and his seven disciples: Ma Yu, Tan Chuduan, Liu Chuxuan, Qiu Chuji, Wang Chuyi, Hao Datong, Sun Bu'er. No founding year is given below, because the sources read do not agree on one and a date has not been chosen for them. No separate founding date: Beizong is the neidan identity of the Quanzhen founders, active in the 12th to early 13th centuries. Pregadio characterises Beizong as emphasising immediate realisation of inner nature (xing).
