Origin
Founders named in the sources: Dongshan Liangjie (807–869), Caoshan Benji (840–901). No founding year is given below, because the sources read do not agree on one and a date has not been chosen for them. One of the Five Houses of Chan; used diagrams to map stages of understanding.
