Fasli calendar community is a living tradition within Parsi Zoroastrians. Also written Fasali, Bastani (Iranian usage), seasonal calendar.
Origin
No founding year is given below, because the sources read do not agree on one and a date has not been chosen for them. NULL: a religious calendar kept in harmony with the seasons by intercalating one day every four years on the Gregorian pattern, with Nowruz fixed at 21 March (avesta.org). Reported but unverified background: the Zarthosti Fasili Sal Mandal (Zoroastrian Seasonal-Year Society) was founded in 1906 by Khurshedji Cama, a Bombay Parsi — not promoted to foundedYear because the only source for it is community journalism. The Fasli reckoning is used by a minority of Parsis and by Iranian Zoroastrians and reformist bodies; it is placed under Parsi Zoroastrians for parity with the other two factions, but it spans Indian and Iranian communities alike.
