Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church is a living tradition within Saint Thomas Christians (Kerala). Also written Indian Orthodox Church.
Origin
Founding date given as 1912. Britannica records that the Malankara (Indian) Orthodox Church gained autocephaly from the Syriac church in 1912. Its remoter origin is the 1653 break of the Thomas Christians with Rome after Portuguese Latinisation.
