Mūla-saṅgha is recorded within Digambara. The sources read do not establish whether it is extant. Also written Mula Sangha, Root Assembly.
Origin
Founder named in the sources: Kundakunda (the teacher through whom the lineage is traced). No founding year is given below, because the sources read do not agree on one and a date has not been chosen for them. Jainpedia: the Mūla-saṅgha ('Root Assembly'), traced to the 24th Jina Mahāvīra through the teacher Kundakunda (2nd–3rd centuries CE). Jainpedia records that it split into four primary groups (gaṇas): Sena-gaṇa, Deva-gaṇa, Siṃha-gaṇa and Nandi-gaṇa. These four are not given separate rows because the source supplies no founder, date or status for any of them. No founding year given.
