Nizari Isma'ilism is a living tradition within Isma'ilism. Also written Nizaris, Aga Khani Isma'ilis.
Origin
Founding date given as 487/1094. The Nizari-Musta'li schism is dated 487/1094 by the Institute of Ismaili Studies, following the succession dispute after the Fatimid caliph-imam al-Mustansir; the Nizari line is the branch that recognised Nizar. The community is led by a living hereditary imam, the Aga Khan.
