Oneness Pentecostalism is a living tradition within Pentecostalism. Also written Apostolic Pentecostalism, Jesus' Name Pentecostalism, the New Issue.
Origin
Founders named in the sources: R. E. McAlister (early teaching), Garfield T. Haywood. Founding date given as 1916. Arose from the New Issue controversy over baptism in Jesus' name alone and rejection of Trinitarian doctrine. The Assemblies of God expelled the anti-Trinitarian party at its Fourth General Council in October 1916 after adopting a Trinitarian Statement of Fundamental Truths. Many of those expelled joined Garfield T. Haywood in the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, which kept an interracial identity until 1924, when white ministers withdrew to form the Pentecostal Church, Incorporated; that body later merged into the United Pentecostal Church International.
