Orthodox Baháʼí Faith (Remey line)

Orthodox Baháʼí Faith (Remey line) is a living tradition within Baháʼí Faith. Also written Orthodox Baháʼís Under the Hereditary Guardianship, Baháʼís under the Hereditary Guardianship.

Origin

Founder named in the sources: Charles Mason Remey (1874–1974). Founding date given as 1960. In 1960 Charles Mason Remey, a Hand of the Cause, declared himself the second Guardian, arguing that the Guardianship was an essential and continuing part of the Baháʼí Covenant and resting his claim on his appointment as president of the International Baháʼí Council. From a base in Florence he appointed local spiritual assemblies in Santa Fe (New Mexico), Rawalpindi (Pakistan) and Lucknow (India), and organised the election of two national assemblies in 1963, in the United States and Pakistan. His followers splintered into rival lines even before his death.
