Origin
Founder named in the sources: Utpaladeva. No founding year is given below, because the sources read do not agree on one and a date has not been chosen for them. IEP: Utpaladeva (c. 925–975), student of Somānanda, 'developed the Pratyabhijnā ("Recognition") system through works like the Īshvarapratyabhijnākārikā'. Abhinavagupta later elaborated his arguments; Kṣemarāja (c. 1000–1050) simplified the teaching in the Pratyabhijñāhṛdaya. No founding year given.
