Reformed (Calvinist) tradition is a living tradition within Protestantism. Also written Reformed churches, Calvinism.
Origin
Founders named in the sources: Huldrych Zwingli, John Calvin, Heinrich Bullinger. No founding year is given below, because the sources read do not agree on one and a date has not been chosen for them. Britannica describes the Reformed churches as originally a group of non-Lutheran Protestant churches in towns of Switzerland and southern Germany, arising from the Swiss Reformation. Huldrych Zwingli (1484-1531) was the most important reformer of the Swiss Reformation and founder of the Swiss Reformed Church; Calvin's tradition merged with Zwingli's, aided by the Zurich Consensus of 1549, and received theological expression in the Second Helvetic Confession (dated 1561 by Britannica). No single founding year is given.
