Origin
Founder named in the sources: Muhammad b. Idris al-Shafi'i. No founding year is given below, because the sources read do not agree on one and a date has not been chosen for them. The tertiary source reached places the school's formation in the early 9th century CE. This was not confirmed against a scholarly reference work in this pass, so neither a founding year nor the eponym's dates are asserted.
