میں نے ابو جعفر علیہ السلام کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا: جب نطفہ رحم میں پڑتا ہے تو چالیس دن تک اس میں ٹھہرا رہتا ہے، اور چالیس دن تک علقہ رہتا ہے، اور چالیس دن تک مضغہ رہتا ہے۔ پھر اللہ تعالیٰ دو خلق کرنے والے فرشتے بھیجتا ہے، اور ان دونوں سے کہا جاتا ہے: جیسا اللہ چاہتا ہے اسے پیدا کرو، مرد یا عورت؛ اسے صورت دو، اور اس کی موت کا وقت، رزق، موت، اور یہ کہ وہ بدبخت ہو گا یا خوش نصیب — یہ سب لکھو؛ اور اللہ کے لیے وہ عہد لکھو جو اس سے عالم ذر میں اس کی آنکھوں کے درمیان لیا گیا تھا۔ پس جب اس کے ماں کے پیٹ سے نکلنے کا وقت قریب آتا ہے تو اللہ اس کے پاس ایک فرشتہ بھیجتا ہے جسے زاجر کہا جاتا ہے۔ وہ اسے ڈانٹتا ہے، وہ شدید خوف سے گھبرا جاتا ہے، پس اپنا عہد بھول جاتا ہے، اور فرشتے کی ڈانٹ سے روتا ہوا زمین پر گر جاتا ہے۔

Translation

Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, and Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Mahboub, from Ibn Raib, from Zurara Bin Ayn who said, ‘I heard Abu Ja’far^asws saying: ‘When the seed falls into the womb, it vibrates in it for forty days, it settles in it for forty days, and becomes a cloth for forty days, and becomes a lump for forty days. Then Allah^azwj Sends two creating Angels, so He^azwj Says to both of them to create whatever Allah^azwj Intends, male or female. So they caricature it, and write down its term, and its sustenance, and its death, and whether it is to be miserable or fortunate, and they both write the Covenant for Allah^azwj which He^azwj had Taken from it in the (realm of the) particles, to be between its eyes. So when it is near for its exit from the belly of its mother, Allah^azwj Sends an Angel called Zajira (Rebuker) to it. So he rebukes it with a rebuke, so it panics and forgets the Covenant, and falls to the ground crying from the rebuking of the Angel’.
