لَقِيَ رَجُلٌ الْحُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ ( عليه السلام ) بِالثَّعْلَبِيَّةِ وَ هُوَ يُرِيدُ كَرْبَلَاءَ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ الْحُسَيْنُ ( عليه السلام ) مِنْ أَيِّ الْبِلَادِ أَنْتَ قَالَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ قَالَ أَمَا وَ اللَّهِ يَا أَخَا أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ لَوْ لَقِيتُكَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ لَأَرَيْتُكَ أَثَرَ جَبْرَئِيلَ ( عليه السلام ) مِنْ دَارِنَا وَ نُزُولِهِ بِالْوَحْيِ عَلَى جَدِّي يَا أَخَا أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ أَ فَمُسْتَقَى النَّاسِ الْعِلْمَ مِنْ عِنْدِنَا فَعَلِمُوا وَ جَهِلْنَا هَذَا مَا لَا يَكُونُ .

علی بن محمد بن عبداللہ، ابراہیم بن اسحاق الاحمر سے، عبداللہ بن حمد سے، صباح المزنی سے، الحارث بن حصیرہ سے، الحکم بن عتیبہ سے، انہوں نے کہا: ایک شخص نے الثعلبیہ میں حسین بن علی علیہ السلام سے ملاقات کی، جب وہ کربلا کی طرف جا رہے تھے۔ وہ ان کے پاس آیا اور سلام کیا۔ تو حسین علیہ السلام نے اس سے فرمایا: “تم کس علاقے سے ہو؟” اس نے کہا: “کوفہ والوں میں سے ہوں۔” انہوں نے فرمایا: “بے شک، اللہ کی قسم، اے اہلِ کوفہ کے بھائی! اگر میں تم سے مدینہ میں ملتا تو میں تمہیں ہمارے گھر میں جبرئیل علیہ السلام کے آثار اور میرے جد پر وحی کے ساتھ ان کے نزول کو دکھاتا۔ اے اہلِ کوفہ کے بھائی! کیا لوگ ہم سے علم حاصل کریں اور پھر وہ جان لیں جبکہ ہم جاہل رہیں؟ یہ ہرگز نہیں ہو سکتا۔”
Translation
Ali Bin Muhammad Bin Abdullah, from Ibrahim Bin Is’haq Al Ahmar, from Abdullah Bin Hammad, from Sabbah Al Muzany, from Al Hari Bin Haseyra, from Al Hakam Bin Uteyba who said, ‘A man met up with Al-Husayn Bin Ali<sup>asws</sup> at Salbiyya and he<sup>asws</sup> was intending Karbala. So he went over to him<sup>asws</sup>, and greeted upon him<sup>asws</sup>. So Al-Husayn<sup>asws</sup> said to him: ‘Which city are you from?’ He said, ‘From the people of Al-Kufa’. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘But, by Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, O brother of the people of Al-Kufa! Had I<sup>asws</sup> met you in Al-Medina, I<sup>asws</sup> would have shown you the effects of Jibraeel<sup>as</sup> from our<sup>asws</sup> house, and he<sup>as</sup> descended with the Revelation upon my<sup>asws</sup> grandfather<sup>saww</sup>. O brother of the people of Al-Kufa! So the people quenched the knowledge from us<sup>asws</sup>, and is it so that they are knowledgeable and we<sup>asws</sup> are ignorant? This cannot happen to be!’
