علی بن ابراہیم، صالح بن السندی سے، جعفر بن بشیر سے، حنّان سے، ان کے والد سے، ابو جعفر (علیہ السلام) سے روایت کرتے ہیں، جنہوں نے فرمایا: رسول اللہ (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) نے فرمایا: “امامت صرف اس شخص کے لیے مناسب ہے جس میں تین خصلتیں ہوں: ورع جو اسے اللہ کی نافرمانی کے کاموں سے روکے، اور حلم جس کے ذریعے وہ اپنے غصے پر قابو پائے، اور جن پر وہ حکومت کرے ان پر اچھی ولایت، یہاں تک کہ وہ ان کے لیے ایک مہربان باپ کی مانند ہو جائے۔” اور ایک دوسری روایت میں: “یہاں تک کہ وہ رعایا کے لیے ایک مہربان باپ کی مانند ہو جائے۔”

Translation

Ali Bin Ibrahim, from Salih Bin Al Sindy, from Ja’far Bin Bashir, from Hannan, from his father, (It has been narrated) from Abu Ja’far^asws having said: ‘Rasool-Allah^saww said: ‘The Imamate is not correct except for a man in whom there are three characteristics – piety detaining him^asws from disobeying Allah^azwj, and forbearance he^asws can control his^asws anger with, and good guardianship upon the ones he^asws rules over until he^asws happens to be like the merciful father to them’. And in another report: ‘Until he^asws happens to be to the citizens like the merciful father’.
