سَأَلْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) لِمَ سُمِّيَ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ لِأَنَّهُ يَمِيرُهُمْ الْعِلْمَ أَ مَا سَمِعْتَ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ وَ نَمِيرُ أَهْلَنا . وَ فِي رِوَايَةٍ أُخْرَى قَالَ لِأَنَّ مِيرَةَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ يَمِيرُهُمُ الْعِلْمَ .

الحسین بن محمد، معلیٰ بن محمد سے، وہ الوشاء سے، وہ احمد بن عمر سے، انہوں نے کہا: میں نے ابا الحسن علیہ السلام سے پوچھا: “امیر المؤمنین علیہ السلام کو اس لقب سے کیوں پکارا گیا؟” انہوں نے فرمایا: “کیونکہ وہ انہیں علم عطا کرتا ہے۔” کیا تم نے اللہ کی کتاب میں نہیں سنا: “اور ہم اپنے اہل کے لیے رزق لاتے ہیں”؟ اور ایک دوسری روایت میں انہوں نے فرمایا: “کیونکہ مومنین کا رزق ان ہی کی طرف سے ہے؛ وہ انہیں علم عطا کرتے ہیں۔”
Translation
Al Husayn Bin Muhammad, from Moalla Bin Muhammad, from Al Washha, from Ahmad Bin Umar who said, ‘I asked Abu Al-Hassan<sup>asws</sup>, ‘Why was Amir Al-Momineen<sup>asws</sup> named as such?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Because he<sup>asws</sup> brings them (يَمِيرُهُمْ) the knowledge. Have you nor heard in the Book of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:12#h65"><a href="/books/quran:12#h65">[12:65]</a></a> and we will bring (</span><span dir="rtl" class="bTxt">نَمِيرُ</span>)<span class="ibTxt"> grain for our family</span>’. And in another report, he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Because he<sup>asws</sup> nourished the Momineen from his<sup>asws</sup> own presence, feeding them the knowledge’.
