قُلْتُ لَهُ بِمَ يُعْرَفُ النَّاجِي قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ فِعْلُهُ لِقَوْلِهِ مُوَافِقاً فَأَثْبَتَ لَهُ الشَّهَادَةَ وَ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ فِعْلُهُ لِقَوْلِهِ مُوَافِقاً فَإِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ مُسْتَوْدَعٌ .

محمد بن یحییٰ نے احمد بن محمد بن عیسیٰ سے، انہوں نے محمد بن سنان سے، انہوں نے مفضل بن عمر سے، انہوں نے ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام سے روایت کی، آپؑ نے فرمایا: میں نے ان سے کہا: 'نجات پانے والے کو کس چیز سے پہچانا جائے گا؟' آپؑ نے فرمایا: 'جس کا عمل اس کے قول کے موافق ہو، تو اس کے لیے شہادت ثابت کی جائے گی۔ اور جس کا عمل اس کے قول کے موافق نہ ہو، تو وہ بس ایمانِ مستودَع (امانتی) ہے۔'
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Muhammad Bin Sinan, from Al Mufazzal Bin Umar, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, said, ‘I said to him<sup>asws</sup>, ‘With what would the Rescued one be recognised?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘The one whose deed was in accordance with his words, so the testimony would be affirmed for him; and the one whose deed do not happen to be in accordance to his words, so rather, that is the lent (temporary) <span class="iTxt">Eman</span>’.
