قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) لِعَلِيٍّ ( عليه السلام ) يَا عَلِيُّ افْتَتِحْ طَعَامَكَ بِالْمِلْحِ وَ اخْتِمْ بِالْمِلْحِ فَإِنَّ مَنِ افْتَتَحَ طَعَامَهُ بِالْمِلْحِ وَ خَتَمَ بِالْمِلْحِ عُوفِيَ مِنِ اثْنَيْنِ وَ سَبْعِينَ نَوْعاً مِنْ أَنْوَاعِ الْبَلَاءِ مِنْهُ الْجُذَامُ وَ الْجُنُونُ وَ الْبَرَصُ .
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Hisham Bin Salim, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> said to Ali<sup>asws</sup>! O Ali<sup>asws</sup>! Begin your meal with the salt and end with the salt, for the one who begins his meal with the salt and ends with the salt, would be cured from seventy-two types of affliction, from it being the leprosy, and the insanity, and the vitiligo’.
