الحسین بن محمد الاشعری، معلیٰ بن محمد سے، ابوالفضل عبداللہ بن ادریس سے، محمد بن سنان سے، جنہوں نے کہا: میں ابی جعفر الثانی علیہ السلام کی خدمت میں حاضر تھا، اور میں نے شیعہ کے اختلاف کا ذکر چھیڑا۔ تو انہوں نے فرمایا: اے محمد، بے شک اللہ، بابرکت اور بلند و برتر، ہمیشہ اپنی یکتائی میں منفرد رہا۔ پھر اس نے محمد، اور علی، اور فاطمہ کو پیدا کیا۔ پھر وہ ایک ہزار دہر تک رہے۔ پھر اس نے تمام چیزیں پیدا کیں، اور انہیں ان کی تخلیق کا گواہ بنایا، اور ان کی اطاعت کو ان پر لازم کیا، اور ان کے امور ان کے سپرد کر دیے۔ پس وہ جسے چاہیں حلال قرار دیتے ہیں، اور جسے چاہیں حرام قرار دیتے ہیں؛ اور وہ نہیں چاہتے مگر یہ کہ اللہ، بابرکت اور بلند و برتر، چاہے۔ پھر انہوں نے فرمایا: اے محمد، یہ وہ دین ہے کہ جو اس سے آگے بڑھا وہ پھسل گیا، جو اس سے پیچھے رہ گیا وہ مٹ گیا، اور جو اس سے چمٹا وہ اس سے جا ملا۔ اسے اپنے پاس لے لو، اے محمد۔

Translation

Al Husayn Bin Muhammad Al Ashary, from Moalla Bin Muhammad, from Abu Al Fazl Abdullah Bin Idrees, from Muhammad Bin Sinan who said, ‘I was in the presence of Abu Ja’far^asws the 2^nd, so I flowed (the discussion) of the differing of the Shias. So he^asws said: ‘O Muhammad! Allah^azwj Blessed and High did not cease to be Individual by His^azwj Oneness. Then He^azwj Created Muhammad^saww, and Ali^asws, and (Syeda) Fatima^asws. So they^asws remained for ‘أَلْفَ دَهْرٍ’ a thousand Dahr (one Dahr equals the amount of time earth’s existence). Then He^azwj Created the entirety of the things. So He^azwj Made them^asws witness their creation, and Caused to flow their^asws obedience to be upon these, and Authorised their affairs to them^asws. Thus, they^asws are permitting whatever they are so desiring, and permitting whatever they^asws wish, and they^asws are never desiring except what Allah^azwj the Blessed and High Desires’. Then he^asws said: ‘O Muhammad^saww! This here is the Religion which (if) one who goes ahead of it (exaggerates), would miss it, and the one who remains behind from it would be obliterated, and the one who holds it properly would preserve it. Take it to yourself, O Muhammad^saww!’
