ہمارے بعض اصحاب نے احمد بن محمد بن عیسیٰ سے، انہوں نے ابن ابی عمیر سے، انہوں نے محمد بن حمران سے، انہوں نے ابان بن تغلب سے روایت کی، جنہوں نے کہا: ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام نے فرمایا: جب اہلِ حبشہ کے سردار نے گھڑ سواروں کے ساتھ، اور ان کے ساتھ ہاتھی بھی تھا، گھر کو ڈھانے کے لیے کوچ کیا، تو وہ عبدالمطلب کے اونٹوں کے پاس سے گزرے اور انہیں ہانک لے گئے۔ یہ بات عبدالمطلب تک پہنچی، تو وہ اہلِ حبشہ کے سردار کے پاس آئے۔ دربان اندر گیا اور کہا: "یہ عبدالمطلب بن ہاشم ہیں۔" اس نے کہا: "اور وہ کیا چاہتے ہیں؟" ترجمان نے کہا: "وہ اپنے اونٹوں کے بارے میں آئے ہیں جنہیں انہوں نے ہانک لیا تھا، اور آپ سے ان کی واپسی کا مطالبہ کرتے ہیں۔" تو اہلِ حبشہ کے بادشاہ نے اپنے ساتھیوں سے کہا: "یہ ایک قوم کا سردار اور ان کا رہنما ہے۔ میں اس کے گھر کی طرف آیا ہوں جس کی وہ عبادت کرتا ہے تاکہ اسے ڈھا دوں، اور وہ مجھ سے اپنے اونٹ چھوڑنے کا مطالبہ کر رہا ہے! اگر وہ مجھ سے اس کے ڈھانے سے باز رہنے کا مطالبہ کرتا تو میں ضرور ایسا کرتا۔ اس کے اونٹ اسے واپس کر دو۔" پھر عبدالمطلب نے اپنے ترجمان سے کہا: "بادشاہ نے تم سے کیا کہا؟" تو اس نے اسے خبر دی، اور عبدالمطلب نے کہا: "میں اونٹوں کا رب ہوں، اور اس گھر کا بھی ایک رب ہے جو اس کی حفاظت کرے گا۔" پس اس کے اونٹ اسے واپس کر دیے گئے، اور عبدالمطلب اپنے گھر کی طرف لوٹ گئے۔ واپسی میں وہ ہاتھی کے پاس سے گزرے اور اس سے کہا: "اے محمود!" تو ہاتھی نے اپنا سر ہلایا۔ انہوں نے اس سے کہا: "کیا تم جانتے ہو کہ وہ تمہیں کیوں لائے تھے؟" ہاتھی نے اپنے سر سے اشارہ کیا: "نہیں۔" عبدالمطلب نے کہا: "وہ تمہیں تمہارے رب کے گھر کو ڈھانے کے لیے لائے تھے۔ کیا تم سمجھتے ہو کہ تم ایسا کرو گے؟" اس نے اپنے سر سے اشارہ کیا: "نہیں۔" پھر عبدالمطلب اپنے گھر کی طرف لوٹ گئے۔ جب صبح ہوئی تو وہ اسے حرم میں داخل کرنے کے لیے لے گئے، مگر وہ انکار کرتا رہا اور ان کے ساتھ نہ مانا۔ پھر ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib نے اس وقت اپنے ایک خادم سے کہا: "پہاڑ پر چڑھو اور دیکھو—کیا تم کچھ دیکھتے ہو؟" اس نے کہا: "میں سمندر کی سمت سے ایک سیاہی آتی ہوئی دیکھ رہا ہوں۔" اس نے اس سے کہا: "کیا تمہاری نظر اسے پوری طرح پہچان سکتی ہے؟" اس نے کہا: "نہیں، لیکن وہ قریب ہے کہ واضح ہو جائے۔" جب وہ قریب آئی تو اس نے کہا: "یہ بہت سے پرندے ہیں، اور میں انہیں نہیں پہچانتا۔ ہر پرندہ اپنی چونچ میں ایک کنکری اٹھائے ہوئے ہے، جو چھوٹی کنکری پھینکنے والی پتھر جیسی ہے، یا اس سے بھی چھوٹی ہے۔" پھر ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib نے کہا: "ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib کے رب کی قسم، وہ صرف لوگوں ہی کو چاہتے ہیں۔" پھر جب وہ سب کے سب ان کے سروں کے اوپر آ گئے تو انہوں نے کنکریاں پھینکیں، اور ہر کنکری ایک آدمی کے سر کی چوٹی پر گری، اس کے پچھلے حصے سے نکل گئی، اور اسے ہلاک کر دیا۔ ان میں سے کوئی نہ بچا سوائے ایک آدمی کے جو لوگوں کو خبر دینے گیا، لیکن جب اس نے انہیں خبر دی تو اس پر بھی ایک کنکری پھینکی گئی اور اسے ہلاک کر دیا گیا۔

Translation

A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Muhammad Bin Humran, from Aban Bin Taghlub who said, ‘Abu Abdullah^asws said: ‘When the master of Ethiopia (Abraha) diverted with the cavalry horses and with them were the elephants, in order to demolish the House (Kabah), they passed by the camels of Abdul Muttalib. So they ushered them (for themselves). So (the news of) that reached Abdul Muttalib^as, and he^asws came to the master of Ethiopia (Abraha). So the proclaimer entered and said, ‘This is Abdul Muttalib^asws Bin Hashim^asws!’. So he said, ‘And what does he^asws desire?’ The translator said, ‘He^asws has come regarding camels of his^asws which have been ushered (by us), asking you to return them’. So the king of Ethiopia said to his companions, ‘This is a chief of the people and their leader. I have come to his^as^ws House which he^as^ws worships, in order to demolish it, and he^as^ws is asking me to free his^asws camels? But, had he^as^ws asked me to refrain from demolishing it, I would have done so. Return his^as^ws camels to him’. So Abdul Muttalib^as^ws said to his translator: ‘What did the king say to you?’ So he informed him^as^ws. So Abdul Muttalib^as^ws said: ‘I^as^ws am the lord of the camels, and for this House (Kabah), there is a Lord^azwj, Protecting it’. So he returned his^as^ws camels to him^as^ws, and Abdul Muttalib^as^ws left towards his^as^ws house. So he^as^ws passed by the elephant during his^as^ws leaving, and he^as^ws said to the elephant: ‘O Mahmoud!’ So the elephant moved its head. So he^as^ws said: ‘Do you know why they have come with you?’ So the elephant said with its head, ‘No’. So Abdul Muttalib^as^ws said: ‘They came with you in order to demolish the House of your Lord^azwj. Do you see yourself doing that?’ So it said with its head, ‘No’. So Abdul Muttalib^as^ws left to go to his^as^ws house’. So when it was morning, they went with it in order to demolish the Sanctuary. But it refused and prevented upon them. So Abdul Muttalib^as said to one of his^as^ws friends during that: ‘Ascend to the top of the mountain and look if you can see anything’. So he said, ‘I see blackness from the direction of the sea’. So he^as said to him: ‘Do you visualise all of it?’ So he said to him^as, ‘No, I can almost see it’. So when it was nearer, he said, ‘There are a lot of birds and I do not understand it. Every bird has a pebble in its beak like a flicking pebble, or smaller than a flicking pebble’. So Abdul Muttalib^as^ws said: ‘By the Lord^azwj of Abdul Muttalib^as^ws! They are not intending except for the group of people’. When they came to be above their heads, they cast the pebbles altogether, and every pebble fell on top of a man and exited from his behind, and killed him. So none escaped from them except for one man who (ran back to his hometown and) informed the people (what had happened to the king and his army). So when he had informed them, a pebble was thrown upon him, and killed him’.
