كَتَبْتُ إِلَى أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الْأَوَّلِ ( عليه السلام ) أَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ أَشْرِبَةٍ تَكُونُ قِبَلَنَا السِّكَنْجَبِينِ وَ الْجُلَّابِ وَ رُبِّ التُّوتِ وَ رُبِّ الرُّمَّانِ وَ رُبِّ السَّفَرْجَلِ وَ رُبِّ التُّفَّاحِ إِذَا كَانَ الَّذِي يَبِيعُهَا غَيْرَ عَارِفٍ وَ هِيَ تُبَاعُ فِي أَسْوَاقِنَا فَكَتَبَ جَائِزٌ لَا بَأْسَ بِهَا .
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahy, from Hamdan Bin Suleyman, from Ali Bin Al Hassan, from Ja’far Bin Ahmad Al Makfouf who said, ‘I wrote to Abu Al-Hassan<sup>asws</sup> the 1st asking him<sup>asws</sup> about drinking what happens to be facing us, and the ginger drink, and the rose water, and the mulberry jam, and the pomegranate ham, and the quince jam, and the apple jam, when we have bought which is being sold without recognition, and it is being sold in our markets’. So he<sup>asws</sup> wrote: ‘Allowed, there is no problem with these’.
