سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنِ النِّسَاءِ هَلْ يَرِثْنَ الرِّبَاعَ فَقَالَ لَا وَ لَكِنْ يَرِثْنَ قِيمَةَ الْبِنَاءِ قَالَ قُلْتُ فَإِنَّ النَّاسَ لَا يَرْضَوْنَ بِذَا قَالَ فَقَالَ إِذَا وُلِّينَا فَلَمْ يَرْضَ النَّاسُ بِذَلِكَ ضَرَبْنَاهُمْ بِالسَّوْطِ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَقِيمُوا ضَرَبْنَاهُمْ بِالسَّيْفِ .

علی بن ابراہیم نے محمد بن عیسیٰ سے، انہوں نے یونس سے، انہوں نے یحییٰ الحلبی سے، انہوں نے شعیب الحداد سے، انہوں نے یزید الصائغ سے روایت کی کہ انہوں نے کہا: میں نے ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام سے عورتوں کے بارے میں پوچھا — کیا وہ زمین/جائیداد کی وارث ہوتی ہیں؟ آپ نے فرمایا: نہیں، لیکن وہ عمارت کی قیمت کی وارث ہوتی ہیں۔ میں نے کہا: لوگ اس سے راضی نہیں ہوں گے۔ آپ نے فرمایا: جب ہمیں حکومت دی جائے اور لوگ اس سے راضی نہ ہوں تو ہم انہیں کوڑے سے ماریں گے، اور اگر وہ سیدھے نہ ہوں تو ہم انہیں تلوار سے ماریں گے۔
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from Muhammad Bin Isa, from Yunus, from Yahya Al Halby, from Shuayb Al Haddad, from Yazeed Al Saig who said, ‘I asked Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> about the women, do they inherit the real estate? So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘No, but they inherit the value of the building’. I said, ‘But the people are not pleased by that’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘When we<sup>asws</sup> rule and the people are not pleased with that, we<sup>asws</sup> will strike them with the whip. So if they are not straightened (by that), we<sup>asws</sup> will strike them with the sword’.
