مُحَمَّد بن الحسن بن شَمُّون نے مجھ سے روایت کی، انہوں نے کہا: میں نے ابو محمد (عليه السلام) کو لکھا، ان سے درخواست کی کہ وہ میری آنکھ کے درد کے بارے میں میرے لیے اللہ سے دعا کریں۔ میری ایک آنکھ پہلے ہی جا چکی تھی، اور دوسری جانے کے قریب تھی، تو انہوں نے مجھے جواب لکھا: “اللہ تمہاری آنکھ کو تمہارے لیے باقی رکھے۔” پھر صحت مند آنکھ ٹھیک ہو گئی۔ اور اس نے خط کے آخر میں لکھا: “اللہ تمہیں اجر دے اور تمہارے بدلے کو بہترین بنائے۔” میں اس وجہ سے غمگین ہو گیا، اور مجھے اپنے اہل میں کسی کے مرنے کا علم نہ تھا۔ پھر کچھ دن بعد میرے بیٹے طیّب کی وفات کی خبر مجھے پہنچی، اور تب مجھے معلوم ہوا کہ تعزیت اسی کے لیے تھی۔

Translation

Is’haq said, ‘Muhammad Bin Al Hassan Bin Shamoun narrated to me saying, ‘I wrote to Abu Muhammad^asws (11^th Imam^asws) asking him^asws that he^asws supplicates to Allah^azwj for me for the pain of my eyes, and it was so the one of my eyes had gone (blinded) and the other one was upon the verge of going. So he^asws wrote to me: ‘Allah^azwj will Preserve your eyes upon you’. So it opened healthy, and he^asws had signed at the end of the letter: ‘May Allah^azwj Recompense you and Grant you good Rewards’. So I was gloomy due to that and I did not know it (the condolence) was with regards to which of my family member who had died. So when it was after a few days, there came to me (news) of the death of my son Taiib, then I knew that the condolence was for him’.
