وَرَدْتُ الْجَبَلَ وَ أَنَا لَا أَقُولُ بِالْإِمَامَةِ أُحِبُّهُمْ جُمْلَةً إِلَى أَنْ مَاتَ يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فَأَوْصَى فِي عِلَّتِهِ أَنْ يُدْفَعَ الشِّهْرِيُّ السَّمَنْدُ وَ سَيْفُهُ وَ مِنْطَقَتُهُ إِلَى مَوْلَاهُ فَخِفْتُ إِنْ أَنَا لَمْ أَدْفَعِ الشِّهْرِيَّ إِلَى إِذْكُوتَكِينَ نَالَنِي مِنْهُ اسْتِخْفَافٌ فَقَوَّمْتُ الدَّابَّةَ وَ السَّيْفَ وَ الْمِنْطَقَةَ بِسَبْعِمِائَةِ دِينَارٍ فِي نَفْسِي وَ لَمْ أُطْلِعْ عَلَيْهِ أَحَداً فَإِذَا الْكِتَابُ قَدْ وَرَدَ عَلَيَّ مِنَ الْعِرَاقِ وَجِّهِ السَّبْعَ مِائَةِ دِينَارٍ الَّتِي لَنَا قِبَلَكَ مِنْ ثَمَنِ الشِّهْرِيِّ وَ السَّيْفِ وَ الْمِنْطَقَةِ .

علی، ہمارے چند اصحاب سے، احمد بن الحسن اور العلاء بن رزق اللہ سے، بدر سے، جو احمد بن الحسن کا غلام تھا، اس نے کہا: میں الجبل آیا جبکہ میں امامت کا قائل نہ تھا؛ میں انہیں مجموعی طور پر دوست رکھتا تھا، یہاں تک کہ یزید بن عبد اللہ وفات پا گیا۔ اپنی بیماری میں اس نے وصیت کی کہ الشہری السمند، اس کی تلوار، اور اس کی کمر بند اس کے مولا کو دے دیے جائیں۔ پس مجھے خوف ہوا کہ اگر میں الشہری کو اذکوتکین کے حوالے نہ کروں تو اس کی طرف سے مجھے حقیر سمجھا جائے گا۔ چنانچہ میں نے اپنے دل میں جانور، تلوار اور کمر بند کی قیمت سات سو دینار لگائی اور کسی کو اس کی خبر نہ دی۔ پھر عراق سے میرے پاس ایک خط آیا: 'وہ سات سو دینار بھیجو جو الشہری، تلوار اور کمر بند کی قیمت کے بدلے تم پر ہمارے واجب ہیں۔'
Translation
Ali, from a number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Al Hassan and Al A’ala Bin Rizqillah, from Badr Ghulam Ahmad Bn Al Hassan who said, ‘I went to Al-Jabal and I was not saying (believing) in the Imamate. I loved them<sup>asws</sup> summarily until when Yazeed Bin Abdullah died, and he bequeathed to me during his illness that Shahry Al-Samand (his horse), and his sword, and his belt to be handed over to his Master<sup>asws</sup>. But, I feared that if I do not hand over Al-Shahry (the horse) to Izkowtakeyn (a Turkish official of the Abbaside Caliph), I would be harmed from him frightfully. So I evaluated the animal, and the sword, and the belt for seven hundred Dinars within myself and did not notify anyone upon it, but the letter (from the 12<sup>th</sup> Imam<sup>asws</sup>) had arrived to me from Al-Iraq: ‘Divert (to me<sup>asws</sup>) the seven hundred Dinars which is for us<sup>asws</sup> with you from the price of Al-Shahry (the horse), and the sword, and the belt’.
