سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ اذْكُرْ رَبَّكَ إِذا نَسِيتَ قَالَ ذَلِكَ فِي الْيَمِينِ إِذَا قُلْتَ وَ اللَّهِ لَا أَفْعَلُ كَذَا وَ كَذَا فَإِذَا ذَكَرْتَ أَنَّكَ لَمْ تَسْتَثْنِ فَقُلْ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ .
Translation
A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, and Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, both together from Ibn Mahboub, from Ibn Raib, from Hamza Bin Humran who said, ‘I asked Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> about the Words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:18#h24"><a href="/books/quran:18#h24">[18:24]</a></a> and remember your Lord when you forget</span>. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘That is regarding the oath, when you say, ‘By Allah<sup>azwj</sup> I will not do such and such’. So when you remember that you did not say make an exclusion, so say ‘Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Willing’ (إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ)’.
