Al-Kafi 187

امیر المؤمنین علیہ السلام نے فرمایا: اے لوگو! بے شک اللہ تبارک و تعالیٰ نے تمہاری طرف رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو بھیجا اور ان پر حق کے ساتھ کتاب نازل فرمائی، جبکہ تم کتاب اور اسے نازل کرنے والے سے، اور رسول اور انہیں بھیجنے والے سے بے خبر تھے — ایسے وقت میں جب رسولوں کے درمیان وقفہ تھا، اور امتوں میں طویل غفلت تھی، اور جہالت پھیلی ہوئی تھی، اور فتنہ و فساد عام تھا، اور پختہ معاہدے توڑے جا رہے تھے، اور حق سے اندھا پن تھا، اور ظلم کا بول بالا تھا، اور دین مٹتا جا رہا تھا، اور جنگوں کی آگ بھڑک رہی تھی — اس وقت جب دنیا کی جنتوں کے باغات زرد پڑ رہے تھے، شاخیں سوکھ رہی تھیں، پتے جھڑ رہے تھے، پھل سے ناامیدی تھی، اور پانی خشک ہو رہا تھا۔ ہدایت کے نشان مٹ گئے تھے اور ہلاکت کے نشان ظاہر ہو گئے تھے۔ دنیا اپنے باشندوں کے چہروں پر ترش روئی سے سامنے آ رہی تھی، تاریک، پیٹھ پھیرے ہوئے۔ اس کا پھل فتنہ تھا، کھانا مردار تھا، شعار خوف تھا، اور لباس تلوار تھا — تم پوری طرح چیتھڑے کر دیے گئے تھے۔ اس نے باشندوں کی آنکھیں اندھی کر دی تھیں اور ان پر دن تاریک ہو گئے تھے۔ انہوں نے رشتے ناطے کاٹ لیے تھے، ایک دوسرے کا خون بہایا تھا، اور اپنی لڑکیوں کو زندہ دفن کر دیا تھا۔ آرام و راحت اور دنیا کی فراوانی ان سے گزر گئی تھی۔ وہ نہ اللہ سے ثواب کی امید رکھتے تھے اور نہ اللہ کی قسم اس کے عذاب سے ڈرتے تھے۔ ان کے زندہ اندھے اور نجس تھے اور مُردے آگ میں مایوس۔ پھر وہ (رسول) ان کے پاس پہلے صحیفوں میں جو کچھ تھا اس کی نقل لے کر آئے، اور اس کی تصدیق جو ان سے پہلے تھی، اور حلال کو حرام کے شک سے تفصیل سے الگ کرتے ہوئے — وہ قرآن ہے۔ پس اسے بلواؤ، مگر وہ تم سے ہرگز نہیں بولے گا۔ میں تمہیں اس کے بارے میں بتاتا ہوں: اس میں گزشتہ کا علم ہے اور آنے والے کا علم قیامت تک، اور تمہارے درمیان کے معاملات کا حکم، اور اس کا بیان جس میں تم اختلاف کر رہے ہو۔ پس اگر تم مجھ سے اس کے بارے میں پوچھتے تو میں تمہیں سکھا دیتا۔

Translation

Muhammad Bin Yahya, from one of his companions, from Haroun Bin Muslim, from Mas’ada Bin Sadaqa, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah^asws having said: ‘Amir Al-Momineen^asws said: ‘O you people! Allah^azwj Blessed and High sent the Rasool^saww to you and Revealed the Book unto him^saww with the Truth, and you were illiterates (أُمِّيُّونَ) of the Book and the One^azwj Who Revealed it, and about the Raool^saww and the One^azwj Who Sent him^saww upon a gap from the Rasools^as and prolonged slumber from nations and widespread ignorance, and objections from the strife, and the invalidation of the agreements, and the blindness from the Truth, and the coercion from the tyrants, and the obliteration (destruction) from the Religion, and raging of the wars upon the paleness from the orchards of the gardens of the world, and drying out of its branches, and the scattering of its leaves, and despair from its fruits, and drying of its waters. The banners of guidance had decayed and the banners of annihilation appeared. So the world was severe (cruel) in the faces of its inhabitants, gloomy, turning away without facing. Its fruit was the sedition, and its food was the carcass, and its slogan was the fear, and its garment was the crushing sword, crushing every one. And the eyes of its inhabitants were blinded, and the days were darkened upon them. They had cut off their relationships, and shed their bloods, and they had buried their female infants between them from their own children, choosing besides them the good life and the welfare of the lowly world, not desiring Rewards from Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> nor fearing the Punishment of Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> from it. Their lives were blind, filthy, and their deceased ones were in the Fire in utter despair. So he<sup style="font-weight: normal">saww</sup> came to them with a copy of what was in the former Parchments and a ratification of that which was in front of him<sup style="font-weight: normal">saww</sup>, and detail of the Permissibles from the doubts of the Prohibitions. That is the Quran. So try speaking to it, but it will never speak to you all. I<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> can inform you about it. In it is knowledge of what is past and knowledge of what is to come up to the Day of Judgment, and a Judgment for what is between you, and an explanation of what you have come to be disputing upon. So, if you were to ask me<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> about it, I<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> would teach you all’.
