قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) إِنِّي نَاظَرْتُ قَوْماً فَقُلْتُ لَهُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ جَلَّ جَلَالُهُ أَجَلُّ وَ أَعَزُّ وَ أَكْرَمُ مِنْ أَنْ يُعْرَفَ بِخَلْقِهِ بَلِ الْعِبَادُ يُعْرَفُونَ بِاللَّهِ فَقَالَ رَحِمَكَ اللَّهُ .

محمد بن اسماعیل نے فضل بن شاذان سے، انہوں نے صفوان بن یحیی سے، انہوں نے منصور بن حازم سے روایت کی کہ انہوں نے کہا: میں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے عرض کی: میں نے ایک گروہ سے مناظرہ کیا اور انہیں کہا: اللہ جل جلالہ اس سے زیادہ جلیل، عزیز اور کریم ہے کہ اپنی مخلوق کے ذریعے پہچانا جائے؛ بلکہ بندے اللہ کے ذریعے پہچانے جاتے ہیں۔ تو آپ نے فرمایا: اللہ تم پر رحم کرے۔
Translation
Muhammad Bin Ismail, from Al Fazl Bin Shazan, from Safwan Bin Yahya, from Mansour Bin Hazim who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, ‘I debated a group, so I said to them that Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, Majestic is His<sup>azwj</sup> Majesty is more Majestic and more Mighty, and more Benevolent than that He<sup>azwj</sup> should be recognised through His<sup>azwj</sup> creatures. But it is the creatures who are being recognised through Allah<sup>azwj</sup>’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘May Allah<sup>azwj</sup> have Mercy on you’.
