دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) فَقُلْتُ لَهُ وَ اللَّهِ مَا يَسَعُكَ الْقُعُودُ فَقَالَ وَ لِمَ يَا سَدِيرُ قُلْتُ لِكَثْرَةِ مَوَالِيكَ وَ شِيعَتِكَ وَ أَنْصَارِكَ وَ اللَّهِ لَوْ كَانَ لِأَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) مَا لَكَ مِنَ الشِّيعَةِ وَ الْأَنْصَارِ وَ الْمَوَالِي مَا طَمِعَ فِيهِ تَيْمٌ وَ لَا عَدِيٌّ فَقَالَ يَا سَدِيرُ وَ كَمْ عَسَى أَنْ يَكُونُوا قُلْتُ مِائَةَ أَلْفٍ قَالَ مِائَةَ أَلْفٍ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ وَ مِائَتَيْ أَلْفٍ قَالَ مِائَتَيْ أَلْفٍ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ وَ نِصْفَ الدُّنْيَا قَالَ فَسَكَتَ عَنِّي ثُمَّ قَالَ يَخِفُّ عَلَيْكَ أَنْ تَبْلُغَ مَعَنَا إِلَى يَنْبُعَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَأَمَرَ بِحِمَارٍ وَ بَغْلٍ أَنْ يُسْرَجَا فَبَادَرْتُ فَرَكِبْتُ الْحِمَارَ فَقَالَ يَا سَدِيرُ أَ تَرَى أَنْ تُؤْثِرَنِي بِالْحِمَارِ قُلْتُ الْبَغْلُ أَزْيَنُ وَ أَنْبَلُ قَالَ الْحِمَارُ أَرْفَقُ بِي فَنَزَلْتُ فَرَكِبَ الْحِمَارَ وَ رَكِبْتُ الْبَغْلَ فَمَضَيْنَا فَحَانَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَقَالَ يَا سَدِيرُ انْزِلْ بِنَا نُصَلِّ ثُمَّ قَالَ هَذِهِ أَرْضٌ سَبِخَةٌ لَا تَجُوزُ الصَّلَاةُ فِيهَا فَسِرْنَا حَتَّى صِرْنَا إِلَى أَرْضٍ حَمْرَاءَ وَ نَظَرَ إِلَى غُلَامٍ يَرْعَى جِدَاءً فَقَالَ وَ اللَّهِ يَا سَدِيرُ لَوْ كَانَ لِي شِيعَةٌ بِعَدَدِ هَذِهِ الْجِدَاءِ مَا وَسِعَنِي الْقُعُودُ وَ نَزَلْنَا وَ صَلَّيْنَا فَلَمَّا فَرَغْنَا مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ عَطَفْتُ عَلَى الْجِدَاءِ فَعَدَدْتُهَا فَإِذَا هِيَ سَبْعَةَ عَشَرَ .

Muhammad ibn al-Hasan اور 'Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Bundar، Ibrahim ibn Ishaq سے، 'Abdullah ibn Hammad al-Ansari سے، Sadir al-Sayrafi، جنہوں نے کہا: میں Abu 'Abdillah (علیہ السلام) کے پاس گیا اور میں نے ان سے کہا: 'اللہ کی قسم، آپ کو حکمرانوں کے خلاف اٹھ کھڑے ہونے سے باز رکھنے والی کیا چیز ہے؟' انہوں نے فرمایا: 'اور کیوں، اے سَدِیر؟' میں نے کہا: 'آپ کے یار، آپ کے شیعہ اور آپ کے معاونین کی کثرت کی وجہ سے۔ اللہ کی قسم، اگر Amir al-Mu'minin (علیہ السلام) کے پاس وہ شیعہ، معاونین اور یار ہوتے جو آپ کے پاس ہیں تو نہ Taym اور نہ 'Adiyy اس کا طمع کرتے۔' انہوں نے کہا: 'اے سَدِیر، اور کتنے ہو سکتے ہیں؟' میں نے کہا: 'ایک سو ہزار۔' انہوں نے کہا: 'ایک سو ہزار؟' میں نے کہا: 'ہاں، اور دو سو ہزار۔' انہوں نے کہا: 'دو سو ہزار؟' میں نے کہا: 'ہاں، اور نصف دنیا۔' انہوں نے کہا: پس وہ مجھ سے خاموش ہوگئے پھر فرمایا: 'کیا تم ہمارے ساتھ ینبع تک جانا آسان سمجھتے ہو؟' میں نے کہا: 'ہاں۔' پس انہوں نے ایک گدھا اور ایک خچر سوار کرنے کا حکم دیا۔ میں آگے بڑھا اور گدھے پر سوار ہوا تو انہوں نے کہا: 'اے سَدِیر، کیا تم مجھے گدھا دینے کو مناسب سمجھتے ہو؟' میں نے کہا: 'خچر زیادہ خوبصورت اور معزز ہے۔' انہوں نے کہا: 'گدھا میرے ساتھ نرم طبعی ہے۔' پس میں اتر گیا، وہ گدھے پر سوار ہوگئے اور میں خچر پر سوار ہوا۔ پس ہم روانہ ہوئے اور salat کا وقت آگیا۔ انہوں نے کہا: 'اے سَدِیر، ہمارے ساتھ اتر کر salat کرو۔' پھر فرمایا: 'یہ زمین دلدلی ہے؛ یہاں salat جائز نہیں۔' چنانچہ ہم چلتے رہے جب تک کہ ہم ایک سرخ زمین پر نہ پہنچے، اور انہوں نے ایک لڑکے کو بکریاں چرارہا دیکھا اور کہا: 'اللہ کی قسم، اے سَدِیر! اگر میرے پاس ان بکریوں کی تعداد کے برابر شیعہ ہوتے تو میرے لیے بیٹھ کر رہنا جائز نہ ہوتا۔' ہم نے اتر کر salat کی۔ جب ہم نے salat ختم کی تو میں بکریوں کی طرف مڑا اور گِن کر دیکھا تو وہ سترہ تھیں۔
Translation
Muhammad Bin Al Hassan and Ali Bin Muhammad Bin Bundar, from Ibrahim Bin Is’haq, from Abdullah Bin Hammad Al Ansary, from Sadeyr Al Sayrafi who said, ‘I went over to Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> and I said to him<sup>asws</sup>, ‘By Allah<sup>azwj</sup>! What affords you<sup>asws</sup> to sit back (not rise up against the ruling authorities)?’ So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘And why (Shouldn’t I<sup>asws</sup> do so) O Sadeyr!’ I said, ‘Due to the abundance of your<sup>asws</sup> friends and your<sup>asws</sup> Shias, and your<sup>asws</sup> helpers. By Allah<sup>azwj</sup>! Had there been for Amir Al-Momineen<sup>asws</sup> what is for you<sup>asws</sup> from the Shias and the helpers and the friends, neither the (Clan of) Taym (Abu Bakr’s clan), nor (the Clan of Uday (Umar’s clan) would have been greedy with regards to it (the Caliphate)’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘O Sadeyr! And how many could they (Shias) be?’ I said, ‘One hundred thousand’. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘One hundred thousand?’ I said, ‘Yes, and two hundred thousand’. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Two hundred thousand?’ I said, ‘Yes, and half the world’. He (Sadeyr) said, ‘So he<sup>asws</sup> was silent from me, then said: ‘Would it be light upon you if you were to come along with us<sup>asws</sup> to Yanbu?’ I said, ‘Yes’. So he<sup>asws</sup> ordered with a donkey and a mule to be saddled and harnessed. So I initiated and rode the donkey and he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘O Sadeyr! What is your view if you were to prefer me<sup>asws</sup> to be with the donkey?’ I said, ‘The mule is good (for me)’. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘The donkey is kinder with me<sup>asws</sup>’. So I descended and he<sup>asws</sup> rode the donkey and I rode the mule. So we went on and the <span class="iTxt">Salāt</span> (time) arrived, so he<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> said: ‘O Sadeyr! Descend with us<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> to pray <span class="iTxt">Salāt</span>’. Then he<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> said: ‘This is a marshy land, the <span class="iTxt">Salāt</span> is not allowed in it’. So we travelled until we arrived at red ground, and he<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> looked at a boy pasturing goats, so he<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> said: ‘By Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup>, O Sadeyr! Had there been for me<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> Shias of the number of these goats, there would not have been leeway for the sitting back (not rising against the ruling authorities) for me<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>’. And we descended and we prayed <span class="iTxt">Salāt</span>. So when we were free from the <span class="iTxt">Salāt</span>, I turned towards the goats, and I counted them, and there were seventeen’.
