لَيْسَ بَيْنَ الْإِيمَانِ وَ الْكُفْرِ إِلَّا قِلَّةُ الْعَقْلِ قِيلَ وَ كَيْفَ ذَاكَ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ قَالَ إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ يَرْفَعُ رَغْبَتَهُ إِلَى مَخْلُوقٍ فَلَوْ أَخْلَصَ نِيَّتَهُ لِلَّهِ لَأَتَاهُ الَّذِي يُرِيدُ فِي أَسْرَعَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ .

علی بن محمد سے، احمد بن محمد بن خالد سے، ان کے والد سے، ہمارے بعض اصحاب سے، حضرت ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام سے روایت ہے، آپ نے فرمایا: 'ایمان اور کفر کے درمیان بس عقل کی کمی کا فاصلہ ہے۔' عرض کیا گیا: 'یا ابن رسول اللہ، یہ کیسے ہے؟' فرمایا: 'بے شک بندہ اپنی خواہش کو مخلوق کی طرف اٹھاتا ہے، حالانکہ اگر وہ اپنی نیت کو اللہ کے لیے خالص کر لے تو اللہ تعالیٰ اسے اس سے بھی جلد وہ دے دیتا جو وہ چاہتا ہے۔'
Translation
Ali Bin Muhammad, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Khalid, from his father, from one of our companions, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘There isn’t anything between the <span class="iTxt">Eman</span> and the disbelief (<span class="iTxt">Kufr</span>) except for the scarcity of the intellect’. It was said, ‘And how is that so, O son<sup>asws</sup> of Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup>! The servant raises his desire to the creatures (people). So had he been of sincere intention to Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, He<sup>azwj</sup> would Give him that which he wants in (a time period) quicker than that’.
