كَانَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ بِالْعَقْلِ اسْتُخْرِجَ غَوْرُ الْحِكْمَةِ وَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ اسْتُخْرِجَ غَوْرُ الْعَقْلِ وَ بِحُسْنِ السِّيَاسَةِ يَكُونُ الْأَدَبُ الصَّالِحُ قَالَ وَ كَانَ يَقُولُ التَّفَكُّرُ حَيَاةُ قَلْبِ الْبَصِيرِ كَمَا يَمْشِي الْمَاشِي فِي الظُّلُمَاتِ بِالنُّورِ بِحُسْنِ التَّخَلُّصِ وَ قِلَّةِ التَّرَبُّصِ .

ہمارے بعض اصحاب نے سہل بن زیاد سے، انہوں نے عبیداللہ الدہقان سے، انہوں نے احمد بن عمر الحلبی سے، انہوں نے یحیی بن عمران سے، انہوں نے ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام سے روایت کی کہ آپ نے فرمایا: امیر المؤمنین علیہ السلام فرماتے تھے: 'عقل کے ذریعے حکمت کی گہرائی نکالی جاتی ہے اور حکمت کے ذریعے عقل کی گہرائی نکالی جاتی ہے اور حسن سیاست سے صالح ادب پیدا ہوتا ہے۔' آپ نے فرمایا: اور وہ فرماتے تھے: 'تفکر صاحب بصیرت کے دل کی زندگی ہے جیسے اندھیروں میں مسافر نور کے ساتھ حسن تخلص اور کمی تربص کے ساتھ چلتا ہے۔'
Translation
A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Ubedullah Al Dihqan, from Ahmad Bin Umar Al Halby, from Yahya Bin Imran, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘Amir Al-Momineen<sup>asws</sup> was saying: ‘With the intellect, the profundity of the wisdom is extracted, and with the wisdom, the profundity of the intellect is extracted; and the good policies are (as a result of) righteous discipline’. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘And he<sup>asws</sup> (Amir Al-Momineen<sup>asws</sup>) was saying: ‘The pondering is a revival for the discerning heart, just as the walker walks in the darkness with the light with good organisation and little stalling’.
