كَانَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) إِذَا قَامَ آخِرَ اللَّيْلِ يَرْفَعُ صَوْتَهُ حَتَّى يُسْمِعَ أَهْلَ الدَّارِ وَ يَقُولُ. اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى هَوْلِ الْمُطَّلَعِ وَ وَسِّعْ عَلَيَّ ضِيقَ الْمَضْجَعِ وَ ارْزُقْنِي خَيْرَ مَا قَبْلَ الْمَوْتِ وَ ارْزُقْنِي خَيْرَ مَا بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ
Translation
Abu Ali Al Ashary, from Muhammad Bin Abdul Jabbar and Muhammad Bin Ismail, from Al Fazl Bin Shazaan, altogether from Safwan Bin Yahya, from Abdul Rahman Bin Hajjaj who said, ‘It was so that whenever Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> stood at the end of the night (for <span class="iTxt">Salāt</span>), raised his<sup>asws</sup> voice to the extent that the people of the house heard, and he<sup>asws</sup> was saying (a supplication – to be taught to us): ‘O Allah<sup>azwj</sup>! Assist me upon the terror of the emergence (of the Day of Judgment), and Expand upon me the narrowness of the bed (grave), and Grace me goodness in what is before the death, and Grace me goodness in what is after the death’’.
