سَأَلْتُهُ كَمْ أَدْنَى مَا يَكُونُ بَيْنَ الْبِئْرِ بِئْرِ الْمَاءِ وَ الْبَالُوعَةِ فَقَالَ إِنْ كَانَ سَهْلًا فَسَبْعَةُ أَذْرُعٍ وَ إِنْ كَانَ جَبَلًا فَخَمْسَةُ أَذْرُعٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ الْمَاءُ يَجْرِي إِلَى الْقِبْلَةِ إِلَى يَمِينٍ وَ يَجْرِي عَنْ يَمِينِ الْقِبْلَةِ إِلَى يَسَارِ الْقِبْلَةِ وَ يَجْرِي عَنْ يَسَارِ الْقِبْلَةِ إِلَى يَمِينِ الْقِبْلَةِ وَ لَا يَجْرِي مِنَ الْقِبْلَةِ إِلَى دُبُرِ الْقِبْلَةِ .

محمد بن یحیی نے احمد بن محمد سے، انہوں نے محمد بن اسماعیل سے، انہوں نے ابو اسماعیل السراج عبد اللہ بن عثمان سے، انہوں نے قدامہ بن ابی یزید الحمار سے، انہوں نے ہمارے بعض اصحاب سے، انہوں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے روایت کی: فرمایا میں نے ان سے پوچھا: کنویں یعنی پانی کے کنویں اور گندے پانی کے نالے کے درمیان کم از کم کتنا فاصلہ ہونا چاہیے؟ آپ نے فرمایا: اگر زمین ہموار ہو تو سات ہاتھ، اور اگر پتھریلی ہو تو پانچ ہاتھ۔ پھر فرمایا: پانی قبلے کی سمت میں دائیں بہتا ہے، اور قبلے کی دائیں جانب سے قبلے کی بائیں جانب بہتا ہے، اور قبلے کی بائیں جانب سے قبلے کی دائیں جانب بہتا ہے، اور قبلے کی سمت سے قبلے کی مخالف سمت نہیں بہتا۔
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Muhammad Bin Ismail, from Abu Ismail Al Sarraj Abdullah Bin Usman, from Qudamat Bin Abu Yazeed Al Hammar, from one of our companions, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, said, ‘I asked him<sup>asws</sup>, ‘How close by can there happen to be between the water well and the cesspool (drain of dirty water)?’ So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘If it was a plain then seven cubits, and if it was a mountain, so five cubits’. Then he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘The water flows to the direction to the right, and flows from the right direction to the left direction, and flows from the left direction towards the right direction, and cannot flow from the direction to the opposite direction’.
