إِذَا زَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ دَخَلَ وَقْتُ الظُّهْرِ إِلَّا أَنَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهَا سُبْحَةً وَ ذَلِكَ إِلَيْكَ إِنْ شِئْتَ طَوَّلْتَ وَ إِنْ شِئْتَ قَصَّرْتَ .

محمد بن یحیی نے سلمہ بن الخطاب سے، انہوں نے علی بن سیف بن عمیرہ سے، انہوں نے اپنے والد سے، انہوں نے عمر بن حنظلہ سے، انہوں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے روایت کی کہ آپ نے فرمایا: جب سورج ڈھل جائے تو ظہر کا وقت داخل ہو جاتا ہے، مگر اس کے سامنے ایک نفل نماز ہے — اور وہ تجھ پر منحصر ہے: اگر چاہو تو لمبی کرو اور اگر چاہو تو مختصر کرو۔
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Salama Bin Al Khattab, from Ali Bin Sayf Bin Ameyra, from his father, from Umar Bin Hanzala, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘When the sun (starts to) decline the time of Al-Zohr enters except if there is Optional (<span class="iTxt">Salāt</span>) in front of it, and that is up to you. If you so desire to, prolong, and if you so desire to, shorten’.
