إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ الظُّهْرَ فَقَدْ دَخَلَ وَقْتُ الْعَصْرِ إِلَّا أَنَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهَا سُبْحَةً فَذَلِكَ إِلَيْكَ إِنْ شِئْتَ طَوَّلْتَ وَ إِنْ شِئْتَ قَصَّرْتَ .

علی بن محمد نے سہل بن زیاد سے، انہوں نے محمد بن الحسن سے، انہوں نے عبد اللہ بن عبد الرحمن سے، انہوں نے مسمع بن عبد الملک سے روایت کی کہ انہوں نے کہا: جب تم نے ظہر کی نماز پڑھ لی، تو عصر کا وقت داخل ہو گیا، مگر یہ کہ اس سے پہلے ایک نافلہ (سبحہ) ہے، سو وہ تم پر ہے، اگر تم چاہو تو لمبا کرو، اور اگر تم چاہو تو مختصر کرو۔
Translation
Ali Bin Muhammad, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Muhammad Bin Al Hassan, from Abdullah Bin Abdul Rahman, from Misma’a Bin Abdul Malik, ‘He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘When you have prayed <span class="iTxt">Salāt</span> Al-Zohr, so the time for Al-Asr has entered until there happens to be an Optional (<span class="iTxt">Salāt</span>) in front of it. So that is up to you. If you so desire to, you prolong, and if you so desire to, you shorten (the Optional <span class="iTxt">Salāt</span>)’.
