ابو جعفر المنصور نے محمد بن خالد کو — جو مدینہ پر اس کا عامل تھا — لکھا کہ وہ اہلِ مدینہ سے پوچھے کہ دو سو میں سے پانچ زکوٰۃ کیسے وزنِ سات بن گئی، حالانکہ یہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ کے زمانے میں نہیں تھا۔ اور حکم دیا کہ جن سے پوچھے ان میں عبد اللہ بن حسن اور جعفر بن محمد علیہ السلام سے بھی پوچھے۔ راوی کہتے ہیں: پس اس نے اہلِ مدینہ سے پوچھا تو انہوں نے کہا: ہم نے اپنے پہلے لوگوں کو اسی پر پایا۔ پھر اس نے عبد اللہ بن حسن اور جعفر بن محمد علیہ السلام کو بلا بھیجا۔ اس نے عبد اللہ بن حسن سے پوچھا تو انہوں نے بھی وہی کہا جو اہلِ مدینہ کے فتویٰ دینے والوں نے کہا تھا۔ پھر اس نے کہا: اے ابا عبد اللہ! آپ کیا فرماتے ہیں؟ آپ نے فرمایا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ نے ہر چالیس اوقیہ میں ایک اوقیہ مقرر کیا تھا۔ جب تم اس کا حساب کرو تو وہ وزنِ سات کے برابر نکلتا ہے — اور پہلے وزنِ چھ تھا اور درہم پانچ دانق کا تھا۔ حبیب نے کہا: ہم نے حساب کیا تو بالکل ویسا ہی پایا جیسا آپ نے فرمایا۔ پھر عبد اللہ بن حسن آپ کی طرف متوجہ ہوئے اور کہا: آپ نے یہ کہاں سے لیا؟ آپ نے فرمایا: میں نے تمہاری ماں فاطمہ کی کتاب میں پڑھا ہے۔ ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام نے جواب بھیجا: میں نے صرف یہ بتایا تھا کہ میں نے اسے پڑھا ہے، یہ نہیں بتایا کہ وہ میرے پاس ہے۔ حبیب نے کہا: محمد بن خالد مجھ سے بار بار کہتا رہا: میں نے اس جیسا کبھی نہیں دیکھا!

Translation

Ali Bin Ibrahim, from Salma Bin Al Khattab, from Al Hassan Bin Rashid, from Ali Bin Ismail Al Maysami, from Habeeb Al Khash’amy who said, ‘Abu Ja’far Al Mansour wrote to Muhammad Bin Khalid, and he was his office bearer upon Al-Medina, that he should ask the people of Al-Medina about the five from the two hundred regarding the <span class="iTxt">Zakāt</span>, how it came to be seven, and this did not happen to be in the era of Rasool-Allah^saww, and instructed him that among the ones he asks should be Abdullah Bin Al-Hassan, and Ja’far^asws Bin Muhammad^asws’. He (Muhammad Bin Khalid) said, ‘So I asked the people of Al-Medina, and they said, ‘We came across the ones who were before us to be upon this’. So he sent for Abdullah Bin Al-Hassan and Ja’far Bin Muhammad^asws. So he asked Abdullah Bin Al-Hassan, and he said just as the Fatwa issuers from the people of Al-Medina. So he said, ‘What are you^asws saying, O Abu Abdullah^asws?’ So he^asws said: ‘Rasool-Allah^saww made to be in every forty Owqiyas, one Owqiya (unit of weight – forty Dirhams). So when that was counted, it was upon the weight of seven, and it had been weighed at six, and the Dirham was of five Dawaneeqs (units of weight)’. Habeeb (the narrator) said, ‘So we counted it and found it to be just as he^asws had said it to be. So Abdullah Bin Al-Hassan turned towards him^asws and said: ‘From where did you^asws take this?’ He^asws said: ‘I^asws read it in the Book of your mother^asws Syeda Fatima^asws’. He (the narrator) said, ‘Then they left. So Muhammad Bin Khalid sent a message to him^asws, ‘Send the Book of Syeda Fatima^asws over to me’. So Abu Abdullah^asws sent a message to him: ‘But rather, I^asws informed you that I^asws had read it and did not inform you that it was with me^asws’. Habeeb (the narrator) said, ‘So Muhammad Bin Khalid went on to say to me, ‘I have not seen the likes of this, at all!’
