علی ابن ابراہیم نے اپنے والد سے، انہوں نے محمد بن عیسیٰ بن عبید سے، انہوں نے یونس سے، انہوں نے ابو جعفر الاحول سے روایت کی کہ انہوں نے کہا: مجھ سے زنادقہ میں سے ایک آدمی نے سوال کیا اور کہا: 'زکوٰة ہر ہزار سے پچیس درہم کیوں ہوئی؟' میں نے اسے کہا: 'یہ نماز کی طرح ہی ہے — تین رکعات، اور دو، اور چار۔' اس نے مجھ سے قبول کر لیا۔ پھر میں بعد میں ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے ملا، تو میں نے ان سے یہ سوال کیا۔ انہوں نے فرمایا: 'اللہ عزّ وجلّ نے اموال اور مساکین کا حساب لگایا، تو اس نے پایا کہ ہر ہزار سے پچیس ان کو کافی ہوگا، اور اگر یہ انہیں کافی نہ ہوتا تو زیادہ کر دیتا۔' وہ کہتا ہے: میں واپس اس کے پاس گیا اور اسے بتایا۔ اس نے کہا: 'یہ سوال حجاز سے اونٹ پر سوار ہو کر آیا ہے۔' پھر اس نے کہا: 'اگر میں کسی کی اطاعت کرتا، تو اس کلام کے صاحب کی کرتا۔'

Translation

Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Muhammad Bin Isa Bin Ubeyd, from Yunus, from Abu Ja’far Al Ahowl who said, ‘A man from the atheists asked me saying, ‘How come the <span class="iTxt">Zakāt</span> came to be twenty five from every thousand Dirhams?’ So I said to him, ‘But rather that is like the <span class="iTxt">Salāt</span>, being of three (Cycles), and two (Cycles) and four (Cycles) (i.e., an arbitrary number)’. So he accepted it from me. Then I met Abu Abdullah^asws after that. So I asked him^asws about that, and he^asws said: ‘Allah^azwj Mighty and Majestic Counted the wealth and the poor ones, so He^azwj Found what would suffice them as being twenty five from every thousand, and if that would not have sufficed them, would have Increased (the proportion) for them. He (the narrator) said, ‘So I returned to him and informed him, and he said, ‘This question has come upon the camel from Al-Hijaz’. Then he said, ‘If I were to obey anyone obediently, I would obey the author of this speech’.
