لَوْ يَعْلَمُ النَّاسُ مَا فِي طَلَبِ الْعِلْمِ لَطَلَبُوهُ وَ لَوْ بِسَفْكِ الْمُهَجِ وَ خَوْضِ اللُّجَجِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى أَوْحَى إِلَى دَانِيَالَ أَنَّ أَمْقَتَ عَبِيدِي إِلَيَّ الْجَاهِلُ الْمُسْتَخِفُّ بِحَقِّ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ التَّارِكُ لِلِاقْتِدَاءِ بِهِمْ وَ أَنَّ أَحَبَّ عَبِيدِي إِلَيَّ التَّقِيُّ الطَّالِبُ لِلثَّوَابِ الْجَزِيلِ اللَّازِمُ لِلْعُلَمَاءِ التَّابِعُ لِلْحُلَمَاءِ الْقَابِلُ عَنِ الْحُكَمَاءِ .

الحسین بن محمد نے علی بن محمد بن سعد سے، انہوں نے اسے مرفوعاً ابو حمزہ سے، انہوں نے علی بن الحسین علیہ السلام سے نقل کیا کہ آپؑ نے فرمایا: اگر لوگ جانتے کہ علم کی طلب میں کیا (ثواب) ہے تو وہ اسے ضرور طلب کرتے، چاہے (اپنا) خون بہانا پڑے اور سمندروں کی گہرائیوں میں غوطہ لگانا پڑے۔ بے شک اللہ تبارک و تعالیٰ نے دانیال کی طرف وحی فرمائی کہ میرے بندوں میں سب سے زیادہ مبغوض وہ جاہل ہے جو اہل علم کے حق کو حقیر سمجھے اور ان کی اقتداء ترک کرے، اور میرے بندوں میں سب سے زیادہ محبوب وہ متقی ہے جو فراواں ثواب کا طالب ہو، علماء کا ساتھ دے، حلماء کی پیروی کرے، اور حکماء سے (علم) قبول کرے۔
Translation
Al Husayn Bin Muhammad, from Ali Bin Muhammad Bin Sa’ad, raising it, from Abu Hamza, (It has been narrated) from Ali<sup>asws</sup> Bin Al-Husayn<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘Had the people known what is (the Recompense) in seeking the knowledge, they would seek it and even if it was by spilling (their own blood), and diving into the depths (of the ocean). Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Blessed and High Revealed unto Daniel<sup>as</sup>: “The most Detestable of My<sup>azwj</sup> servants to Me<sup>azwj</sup> is the ignorant one, the one who takes lightly with the rights of the people of the knowledge, the one who neglects being guided by them, and that the most Beloved of My<sup>azwj</sup> servants to Me<sup>azwj</sup> is the pious one, the seeker of the abundant Rewards, the follower of the forbearing ones, the acceptor of the wise ones’.
