لَا يَنْبَغِي لِلْمُعْتَكِفِ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ إِلَّا لِحَاجَةٍ لَا بُدَّ مِنْهَا ثُمَّ لَا يَجْلِسُ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ وَ لَا يَخْرُجُ فِي شَيْءٍ إِلَّا لِجَنَازَةٍ أَوْ يَعُودُ مَرِيضاً وَ لَا يَجْلِسُ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ وَ اعْتِكَافُ الْمَرْأَةِ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ .
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Hammad, from Al Halby, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘It is not befitting for the one performing <span class="iTxt">Itikaaf</span> that he goes out from the Masjid except for a need which is inevitable from it. Then, he should not sit until he returns, nor goes out regarding something except for a funeral, or consoling a sick person, nor sit until he returns. And the <span class="iTxt">Itikaaf</span> of the woman is similar to that’.
