قُلْتُ لِأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ لِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ سَمَّاهُ اللَّهُ الْعَتِيقَ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ بَيْتٍ وَضَعَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى وَجْهِ الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا لَهُ رَبٌّ وَ سُكَّانٌ يَسْكُنُونَهُ غَيْرَ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ فَإِنَّهُ لَا رَبَّ لَهُ إِلَّا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ هُوَ الْحُرُّ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ خَلَقَهُ قَبْلَ الْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ خَلَقَ الْأَرْضَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ فَدَحَاهَا مِنْ تَحْتِهِ .
اردو
محمد بن یحییٰ نے محمد بن احمد سے، انہوں نے الحسین بن علی بن مروان سے، انہوں نے ہمارے بہت سے اصحاب سے، انہوں نے ابو حمزہ الثمالی سے روایت کی کہ: میں نے ابو جعفر علیہ السلام سے مسجد الحرام میں عرض کیا: اللہ نے اسے العتیق کیوں نام دیا؟ تو آپ نے فرمایا: زمین پر اللہ نے جتنے بھی گھر رکھے ہیں ان سب کا کوئی نہ کوئی رب (مالک) اور ساکنین ہیں جو اس میں رہتے ہیں — سوائے اس گھر (کعبہ) کے، کیونکہ اس کا اللہ عزّ و جلّ کے سوا کوئی رب (مالک) نہیں، اور یہ الحرّ (آزاد) ہے۔ پھر فرمایا: بے شک اللہ عزّ و جلّ نے اسے زمین سے پہلے پیدا کیا، پھر زمین کو اس کے بعد پیدا کیا اور اسے اس کے نیچے سے پھیلایا۔
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Muhammad Bin Ahmad, from Al Husayn Bin Ali Bin Marwan, from a number of our companions, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly who said, ‘I said to Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup>, ‘With regards to the Sacred Masjid, for which thing did Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Name it as Al-Ateeq (the free)?’ So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘There is none from a house which Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Placed upon the face of the earth except that there is a lord (owner) for it and dwellers dwelling in it apart from this House (Kaaba), for there is no lord (owner) for it except for Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic, and it is free (from ownership)’. Then he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic Created it before the earth, then Created the earth from after it, so He<sup>azwj</sup> Spread it (the earth) from beneath it’.
