قُلْتُ لَهُ لِمَ سُمِّيَ الْبَيْتُ الْعَتِيقَ قَالَ هُوَ بَيْتٌ حُرٌّ عَتِيقٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ لَمْ يَمْلِكْهُ أَحَدٌ .

علی بن ابراہیم نے اپنے والد سے، انہوں نے حماد بن عیسی سے، انہوں نے ابان بن عثمان سے، انہوں نے اپنے خبر دہندہ سے، انہوں نے ابو جعفر علیہ السلام سے روایت کی کہ آپ نے فرمایا: میں نے ان سے عرض کیا: کعبے کو البیت العتیق (آزاد گھر) کیوں کہا گیا؟ آپ نے فرمایا: یہ لوگوں سے آزاد گھر ہے، اس پر کسی نے ملکیت نہیں رکھی۔
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Hammad Bin Isa, from Aban Bin Usman, informing him, (It has been narrated) from Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup>, said, ‘I said to him<sup>asws</sup>, ‘Why was the House (Kaaba) named as Al-Ateeq (The free)?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘It is a free House, freed from the people. No one owns it’.
