إِنَّ قُرَيْشاً فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ هَدَمُوا الْبَيْتَ فَلَمَّا أَرَادُوا بِنَاءَهُ حِيلَ بَيْنَهُمْ وَ بَيْنَهُ وَ أُلْقِيَ فِي رُوعِهِمُ الرُّعْبُ حَتَّى قَالَ قَائِلٌ مِنْهُمْ لَيَأْتِي كُلُّ رَجُلٍ مِنْكُمْ بِأَطْيَبِ مَالِهِ وَ لَا تَأْتُوا بِمَالٍ اكْتَسَبْتُمُوهُ مِنْ قَطِيعَةِ رَحِمٍ أَوْ حَرَامٍ فَفَعَلُوا فَخُلِّيَ بَيْنَهُمْ وَ بَيْنَ بِنَائِهِ فَبَنَوْهُ حَتَّى انْتَهَوْا إِلَى مَوْضِعِ الْحَجَرِ الْأَسْوَدِ فَتَشَاجَرُوا فِيهِ أَيُّهُمْ يَضَعُ الْحَجَرَ الْأَسْوَدَ فِي مَوْضِعِهِ حَتَّى كَادَ أَنْ يَكُونَ بَيْنَهُمْ شَرٌّ فَحَكَّمُوا أَوَّلَ مَنْ يَدْخُلُ مِنْ بَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) فَلَمَّا أَتَاهُمْ أَمَرَ بِثَوْبٍ فَبَسَطَ ثُمَّ وَضَعَ الْحَجَرَ فِي وَسَطِهِ ثُمَّ أَخَذَتِ الْقَبَائِلُ بِجَوَانِبِ الثَّوْبِ فَرَفَعُوهُ ثُمَّ تَنَاوَلَهُ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) فَوَضَعَهُ فِي مَوْضِعِهِ فَخَصَّهُ اللَّهُ بِهِ .

محمد بن یحیی نے احمد بن محمد سے، انہوں نے علی بن نعمان سے، انہوں نے سعید بن عبداللہ اعرج سے، انہوں نے ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام سے روایت کی کہ آپ نے فرمایا: قریش نے زمانہ جاہلیت میں بیت اللہ کو گرا دیا۔ پس جب انہوں نے اسے دوبارہ تعمیر کرنا چاہا تو ان کے اور اس کے درمیان رکاوٹ ڈال دی گئی اور ان کے دلوں میں ہیبت طاری کر دی گئی، یہاں تک کہ ان میں سے ایک کہنے والے نے کہا: تم میں سے ہر شخص اپنا بہترین مال لائے اور ایسا مال نہ لائے جو تم نے قطع رحمی یا حرام ذریعے سے کمایا ہو۔ پس انہوں نے یہ کیا اور ان کے اور بیت اللہ کی تعمیر کے درمیان سے رکاوٹ ہٹا دی گئی۔ پس انہوں نے اسے بنایا یہاں تک کہ حجر اسود کی جگہ تک پہنچے۔ انہوں نے اس بارے میں جھگڑا کیا کہ ان میں سے کون حجر اسود کو اس کی جگہ پر رکھے، یہاں تک کہ قریب تھا کہ ان میں فساد برپا ہو جاتا۔ انہوں نے فیصلہ کیا کہ جو پہلے مسجد کے دروازے سے داخل ہو وہ فیصلہ کرے۔ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ تشریف لائے۔ جب وہ ان کے پاس آئے تو ایک کپڑا لانے کا حکم دیا اور اسے بچھایا، پھر پتھر کو اس کے وسط میں رکھا، پھر قبائل نے کپڑے کے کناروں کو پکڑ کر اٹھایا، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ نے اسے اپنے ہاتھ سے اٹھا کر اس کی جگہ پر رکھ دیا۔ پس اللہ نے انہیں اس کے لیے خاص کر دیا۔
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ali Bin Al Numan, from Saeed Bin Abdullah Al A’raj, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘The Qureysh had demolished the House (Kaaba) during the pre-Islamic period. So when they intended to build it, there was an impediment between them and it, and the awe (fear) was prevalent among them to the extent that a speaker from them said, ‘Let each man from you come with the best of his wealth, and he should not come with wealth he has earned from cutting-off of relationships or prohibited means’. So they did it, and there was a loosening between them and building it. So they built it to the extent that they ended up to the place of the Black Stone. So they quarrelled with regards to it, which of them should be placing the Black Stone in its place, to the extent that evil almost occurred between them. So they decided that it would be the first one to enter from the door of the Masjid. So Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> entered. So when they came to him<sup>saww</sup>, he<sup>as</sup> ordered them with a cloth which he<sup>saww</sup> spread out, then placed the Stone in its middle, then the tribes grabbed with the sides of the cloth, so they raised it. Then he<sup>saww</sup> took it, so he<sup>saww</sup> placed it in its place. Thus, Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Specialised him<sup>saww</sup> with it’.
