كُنْتُ عِنْدَهُ جَالِساً فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ حَدِّثْنِي عَنْ وَلَايَةِ عَلِيٍّ أَ مِنَ اللَّهِ أَوْ مِنْ رَسُولِهِ فَغَضِبَ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَيْحَكَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) أَخْوَفَ لِلَّهِ مِنْ أَنْ يَقُولَ مَا لَمْ يَأْمُرْهُ بِهِ اللَّهُ بَلِ افْتَرَضَهُ كَمَا افْتَرَضَ اللَّهُ الصَّلَاةَ وَ الزَّكَاةَ وَ الصَّوْمَ وَ الْحَجَّ .

علی بن ابراہیم، صالح بن السندی سے، جعفر بن بشیر سے، ہارون بن خارجہ سے، ابو بصیر سے، ابو جعفر (عليه السلام) سے روایت کرتے ہیں، جنہوں نے فرمایا: میں ان کی خدمت میں بیٹھا تھا کہ ایک شخص نے ان سے کہا: “مجھے علی کی ولایت کے بارے میں بتائیے—کیا یہ اللہ کی طرف سے تھی یا اس کے رسول صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم کی طرف سے؟” وہ غضبناک ہوئے، پھر فرمایا: “تجھ پر افسوس! رسول اللہ صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم اللہ سے اس قدر ڈرتے تھے کہ وہ ایسی بات نہ کہتے جس کا اللہ نے انہیں حکم نہ دیا ہو۔ بلکہ اللہ نے اسے واجب قرار دیا، جیسے اللہ نے salat (نماز)، zakat (زکوٰۃ)، sawm (روزہ)، اور hajj (حج) کو واجب قرار دیا۔”
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from Salih Bin Al Sindy, from Ja’far Bin Bashir, from Haroun Bin Kharjat, from Abu Baseer, (It has been narrated) from Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup>, said, ‘I was seated in his<sup>asws</sup> presence, so a man said to him<sup>asws</sup>, ‘Narrate to me about the Wilayah of Ali<sup>asws</sup>, is it from Allah<sup>azwj</sup> from His<sup>azwj</sup> Rasool<sup>saww</sup>?’ So he<sup>asws</sup> got angry then said: ‘Woe be unto you! Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> was the most fearing of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> than for him<sup>saww</sup> to be saying what Allah<sup>azwj</sup> had not Commanded him<sup>saww</sup> with. But, it is a necessity just as Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Necessitated the <span class="iTxt">Salāt</span>, and the <span class="iTxt">Zakāt</span>, and the Fasts, and the Hajj’.
