سَأَلْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) أَيُّمَا أَفْضَلُ الْمُقَامُ بِمَكَّةَ أَوْ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَقَالَ أَيَّ شَيْءٍ تَقُولُ أَنْتَ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ وَ مَا قَوْلِي مَعَ قَوْلِكَ قَالَ إِنَّ قَوْلَكَ يَرُدُّكَ إِلَى قَوْلِي قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ أَمَّا أَنَا فَأَزْعُمُ أَنَّ الْمُقَامَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ أَفْضَلُ مِنَ الْمُقَامِ بِمَكَّةَ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَمَا لَئِنْ قُلْتَ ذَلِكَ لَقَدْ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) ذَاكَ يَوْمَ فِطْرٍ وَ جَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ثُمَّ قَالَ قَدْ فَضَلْنَا النَّاسَ الْيَوْمَ بِسَلَامِنَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) .
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ibn Fazzal, from Al Hassan Bin Jahm who said, ‘I asked Abu Al-Hassan<sup>asws</sup>, ‘Which of the two is superior, the staying in Makkah or in Al-Medina?’ So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Which thing are you saying?’ So I said, ‘And what is my word (compared) with your<sup>asws</sup> word?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Your words would return you to my<sup>asws</sup> words’. So I said to him<sup>asws</sup>, ‘I claim that the staying in Al-Medina is superior than staying in Al-Makkah’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘But, although you said that, Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> said that (as well) on the day of Fitr, and he<sup>asws</sup> went over to Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup>, so he<sup>asws</sup> greeted to him<sup>saww</sup> in the Masjid, then said: ‘We<sup>asws</sup> have been preferred over the people today by our<sup>asws</sup> sending greetings upon Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup>’.
