كَانَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( صلوات الله عليه ) لَا يُقَاتِلُ حَتَّى تَزُولَ الشَّمْسُ وَ يَقُولُ تُفَتَّحُ أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ وَ تُقْبِلُ الرَّحْمَةُ وَ يَنْزِلُ النَّصْرُ وَ يَقُولُ هُوَ أَقْرَبُ إِلَى اللَّيْلِ وَ أَجْدَرُ أَنْ يَقِلَّ الْقَتْلُ وَ يَرْجِعَ الطَّالِبُ وَ يُفْلِتَ الْمُنْهَزِمُ .

علی بن ابراہیم نے اپنے والد سے، انہوں نے ابن ابی عمیر سے، انہوں نے ابان بن عثمان سے، انہوں نے یحیی بن ابی العلاء سے، انہوں نے ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام سے روایت کی کہ آپ نے فرمایا: امیر المومنین صلوات اللہ علیہ سورج کے ڈھلنے تک کبھی جنگ نہیں کرتے تھے، اور فرماتے تھے: آسمان کے دروازے کھل جاتے ہیں، رحمت آتی ہے اور نصرت نازل ہوتی ہے۔ اور فرماتے: یہ رات کے قریب ہے اور زیادہ مناسب ہے کہ قتل کم ہو، تعاقب کرنے والا لوٹ آئے اور شکست خوردہ بچ نکلے۔
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Aban Bin usman, from Yahya Bin Abu Al A’ala, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘Amir Al-Momineen<sup>asws</sup> would never fight until the declining of the sun (after mid-day), and he<sup>asws</sup> was saying: ‘The gateways of the skies are open, and the Mercy is faced, and the victory descends’. And he<sup>asws</sup> was saying: ‘It is nearer to the night, and the scarcity of the killing, and the pursuer would return, and the vanquished would disappear’.
