إِذَا فُقِدَ الْخَامِسُ مِنْ وُلْدِ السَّابِعِ فَاللَّهَ اللَّهَ فِي أَدْيَانِكُمْ لَا يُزِيلُكُمْ عَنْهَا أَحَدٌ يَا بُنَيَّ إِنَّهُ لَا بُدَّ لِصَاحِبِ هَذَا الْأَمْرِ مِنْ غَيْبَةٍ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ عَنْ هَذَا الْأَمْرِ مَنْ كَانَ يَقُولُ بِهِ إِنَّمَا هِيَ مِحْنَةٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ امْتَحَنَ بِهَا خَلْقَهُ لَوْ عَلِمَ آبَاؤُكُمْ وَ أَجْدَادُكُمْ دِيناً أَصَحَّ مِنْ هَذَا لَاتَّبَعُوهُ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ يَا سَيِّدِي مَنِ الْخَامِسُ مِنْ وُلْدِ السَّابِعِ فَقَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ عُقُولُكُمْ تَصْغُرُ عَنْ هَذَا وَ أَحْلَامُكُمْ تَضِيقُ عَنْ حَمْلِهِ وَ لَكِنْ إِنْ تَعِيشُوا فَسَوْفَ تُدْرِكُونَهُ .

علی بن محمد، از حسن بن عیسی بن محمد بن علی بن جعفر، از پدرش، از جدّش، از علی بن جعفر، از برادرش موسی بن جعفر علیہ السلام، کہ انہوں نے فرمایا: جب ساتویں کی اولاد میں سے پانچواں غائب ہو جائے، تو اللہ، اللہ، اپنے دینوں کے بارے میں؛ کوئی تمہیں ان سے نہ ہٹائے۔ اے میرے بیٹے، اس امر کے صاحب کے لیے لازماً غیبت ہوگی، یہاں تک کہ جو شخص اس امر کا قائل تھا وہ اس سے پھر جائے۔ یہ تو بس اللہ عزوجل کی طرف سے ایک آزمائش ہے، جس کے ذریعے اس نے اپنی مخلوق کو آزمایا ہے۔ اگر تمہارے باپ دادا اور تمہارے اجداد اس سے زیادہ درست دین جانتے ہوتے، تو ضرور اس کی پیروی کرتے۔ اس نے فرمایا: پھر میں نے عرض کیا، 'اے میرے مولا، ساتویں کی اولاد میں سے پانچواں کون ہے؟' فرمایا، 'اے میرے بیٹے، تمہاری عقلیں اس سے چھوٹی ہیں، اور تمہارے حوصلے اسے برداشت کرنے سے تنگ ہیں؛ لیکن اگر تم زندہ رہے تو ضرور اسے پا لو گے۔'
Translation
Ali Bin Muhammad, from Al Hassan Bin Isa Bin Muhammad Bin Ali Bin Ja’far, from his father, from his grandfather, (It has been narrated) from Ali son of Ja’far<sup>asws</sup>, from his brother Musa<sup>asws</sup> Bin Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘When the fifth one from the sons<sup>asws</sup> of the seventh is missing (in Occultation), so Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, with regards to your Religion. Do not let anyone remove you from it, O my<sup>asws</sup> children. An Occultation is inevitable for the Master<sup>asws</sup> of this command, to the extent that he would retract from this matter, the one who used to be saying with it. But rather, it would be an ordeal from Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic to Test His<sup>azwj</sup> creatures by it. Had your fathers and your grandfathers known of a Religion more correct that this, they would have followed it’. He (the narrator) said, ‘So I said, ‘O my Chief<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>! Who is the fifth from the sons<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> of the seventh?’ So he<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> said: ‘O my<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> son<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>! Your intellects are too little from this, and your forbearances are too narrow from bearing it, but if you live, so soon you would be realising it’.
