قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) مَنْ مَاتَ لَا يَعْرِفُ إِمَامَهُ مَاتَ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً قَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْتُ جَاهِلِيَّةً جَهْلَاءَ أَوْ جَاهِلِيَّةً لَا يَعْرِفُ إِمَامَهُ قَالَ جَاهِلِيَّةَ كُفْرٍ وَ نِفَاقٍ وَ ضَلَالٍ .

احمد بن ادریس، محمد بن عبد الجبار سے، صفوان سے، فضیل سے، حارث بن مغیرہ سے، انہوں نے کہا: میں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: “جو شخص اپنے امام کو نہ پہچانتے ہوئے مر جائے، وہ جاہلیت کی موت مرتا ہے”؟ انہوں نے فرمایا: “ہاں۔” میں نے کہا: “کیا یہ اندھی جہالت کی جاہلیت ہے، یا اپنے امام کو نہ پہچاننے کی جاہلیت؟” انہوں نے فرمایا: “یہ کفر، نفاق اور گمراہی کی جاہلیت ہے۔”
Translation
Ahmad Bin Idrees, from Muhammad bin Abdul Jabbar, from Safwan, from Al Fuzayl, from Al Haris Bin Al Mugheira who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, ‘Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> said: ‘The one who dies without recognising his Imam<sup>asws</sup>, dies a death of the ignorance (Pre-Islamic period)’?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Yes’. I said, ‘Ignorance of not knowing (being uneducated) or ignorance of not recognising his Imam<sup>asws</sup>?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Ignorance of disbelief, and hypocrisy, and straying’.
