: "أَوْحَى اَللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِلَى دَاوُدَ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ " "أَنَّكَ نِعْمَ اَلْعَبْدُ لَوْ لاَ أَنَّكَ تَأْكُلُ مِنْ بَيْتِ اَلْمَالِ وَ لاَ تَعْمَلُ بِيَدِكَ شَيْئاً" قَالَ "فَبَكَى دَاوُدُ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ فَأَوْحَى اَللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِلَى اَلْحَدِيدِ أَنْ لِنْ لِعَبْدِي دَاوُدَ فَلاَنَ فَأَلاَنَ اَللَّهُ تَعَالَى لَهُ اَلْحَدِيدَ فَكَانَ يَعْمَلُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ دِرْعاً فَيَبِيعُهَا بِأَلْفِ دِرْهَمٍ فَعَمِلَ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ ثَلاَثَمِائَةٍ وَ سِتِّينَ دِرْعاً فَبَاعَهَا بِثَلاَثِمِائَةٍ وَ سِتِّينَ أَلْفاً وَ اِسْتَغْنَى عَنْ بَيْتِ اَلْمَالِ".

3594 - شریف ابن سابق التفلیسی نے الفضل ابن ابی قرة السمنڈی الکوفی سے، ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام سے روایت کی کہ امیرالمؤمنین علیہ السلام نے فرمایا: اللہ تعالیٰ نے داؤد علیہ السلام کو وحی کی: ‘‘تم بہترین بندہ ہو، اگرچہ تم بیت المال سے کھاتے ہو اور اپنے ہاتھ سے کوئی کام نہیں کرتے۔’’ انہوں نے فرمایا: ‘‘پھر داؤد علیہ السلام رونے لگے، اور اللہ تعالیٰ نے لوہے کو وحی کی۔’’ ‘‘میرے بندے داؤد کے لیے نرم ہو جا۔’’ چنان نرم ہوگیا، اور اللہ تعالیٰ نے اُس کے لیے لوہے کو لچکدار بنا دیا۔ وہ ہر روز ایک زِرہ بناتا اور اسے ایک ہزار درہم میں بیچ دیتا۔ وہ علیہ السلام تین سو ساٹھ زِرہیں بنائے اور انہیں تین سو ساٹھ ہزار درہم میں بیچا، اور یوں وہ بیت المال سے آزاد ہو گیا۔
Translation
Hadith.3594 - It is narrated from Sharif ibn Sabiq Al-Taflisi, from Al-Fadl ibn Abi Qurrah Al-Samandi Al-Kufi, from Abu Abdullah (as), that Commander of the Faithful (as) said: "Allah (swt), the Almighty and Majestic, revealed to Dawud (as): 'You are an excellent servant, except that you eat from the public treasury and do not work with your hands.' Dawud (as) then wept. So Allah (swt), the Almighty and Majestic, revealed to the iron: 'Soften for My servant Dawud.' (Surah Saba 34:10) And the iron softened. Allah (swt) made the iron pliable for him, and he began to make a coat of armor each day, selling it for a thousand dirhams. Dawud (as) made three hundred and sixty coats of armor, selling them for three hundred and sixty thousand dirhams, and he became independent of the public treasury."
